Hello and welcome to PSB or the circus as it's some times known. At other times it's known as the Zoo.

There are plenty of shops listed there, most of which sell a decent range of gear.
As a minimum:
Helmet, leather gloves, boots, jacket, kevlar jeans.
What brand? Meh... it doesn't matter. Anything is better than nothing. Choose what you like the look of and what ever feels most comfy wearing it.
In complete darkness we are all the same. It is only our knowledge and wisdom that seperate us. Dont let your eyes deceive you.
Its the little things that make the difference

Doing a quick search will provide you with a wealth of information in regards to protective gear, what's recommended, what's not, peepz recommendations and experiences with them.
And you will get told this often:

Fuggin' BANG!!
Shift Gloves are great in summer, I grabbed mine for Britons at causeway and recently held up VERY well in crash last week... except I think I left one in the ambulance
Textile gloves with reinforced leather palms, carbon bits held up very well on wrist etc, nothing teared, and NOTHING cracked, all good and no skin off hands.
Shift also have some great looking textile summer jackets which fit the bill nicely.
good value for money.

In rough order of importance (imho)
Helmet
Jacket
Gloves
Pants
Boots
Back protector (yes, if you screw your back you're fucked, however for most lower speed lowside type accidents i think you'd have to be pretty unlucky to do your back in. but... ymmv)
Helmet: if you break your head it is bad
Jacket: will help prevent injury/broken bones in arms and torso. broken arms = can't work
Gloves: busted hands = can't work, can't dress self, can't wipe arse, etc
The rest is all important, but those are the top 3... i reckon - if you can't work (pay bills) or dress/wipe your arse your life is pretty damn sad.
