    Thumbs up

    I DID IT - I passed my R
But not without a F*&^ed up story

I went down to Midland and sweat was poring off me. All the training roads I had gone on, well the instructor decided to take me somewhere completely different (yeah onya ), but I passed. Clean sheeted it.
Hang on - it gets better...............
the assessor and another guy (his manager) comes running out "Linda theres a problem... ) You havent had your RE for 12 months. Well Durrrhhhhh!!!!
So he said they couldn't advance me to the R until 12 months is up (thats cool I said, only 2 months, Im happy to wear my L plates). I should never have been able to book my R, but it was a "COMPUTER ERROR". Question is - as long as I DONT have to re-sit my exam! Nup was the reply - Phew

    Oh but wait.....theres more........
Minutes later my assessor comes back and says he has just spoken with the Branch Manager and said "I'm sorry mate, NULL & VOID"!!!!

So here it is in summary
    1. Booked R in Nov 04
    2. Letter of Confirmation mailed out to me
    3. Had lessons - and was costly
    4. Had exam and PASSED
    5. Human Error and computer errors deemed my test VOID
    6. Im deemed competent to handle a motorbike however, apparently the computer has the last say????
    7. Because of non competent computer and staff at Midland, I get the "Oh well.....we will just take all that back off you and you can do it ALLLLLL OVVERRRR A FUCKING AGAIN!!!!!

So, of course my instructor was pissed and so was I (oh - only a little ) I wrote a letter today and faxed it to the Head of WA Branches- Department of Planning and Infrastructure.
Got a reply instantly from Midland stoopid Branch Manager, apologising immensley and for the inconvenience it had caused me and there was no question that she would not renew my licence without the R!!
Good outcome - but my question is WOT THE!!!!

And Yes, I did not know you could not go for your R until 12 months was up. I thought I could go for it anytime as long as I wore L Plates for the 12 month period. But then again, I should have been stopped from the beginning and not allowed to BOOK the R.

Believe it or not you are not the first person this has happened to.

Your Motorcycle instructor should have asked you how long you have been riding on your R-E class licence. That would have been picked up early then and all this avoided. Also the examiner should have checked you up before going out on the test with you. They often pick the error before the beginning of the test.

The departments computers are f----ed and are constantly making errors with bookings and students details.

Oh well as long as you know within yourself you passed thats all that matters. I guess doin it all over again will be a walk int he park for you....

    All the best

As for the assessor - he wasnt a bad dude at all. In fact, he felt very bad for me and kept apologising....it was the bad arse bitch over in Midland that was the prob
