I think when you look at the question asked in this thread leads us down a different road that the comment in the other thread.

So alot of you say you don't use the rear brake, or only use it at very low speeds...
|
Is a seriously different discussion than...

I was failed for not using my front brake. i know that this it is advisable to use your front brake because of stopping power and so on but is it technically a road rule that wou can be failed on?
|
In one we are asking licened riders if they ever use their rear brakes, whereas the other was a learner being failed by a testor for not using a front brake at all during an exam...
A lot of the other threads comments were around that the safest practice is using front brakes with a modicum of rear rather than using rear only...

I often use my rear to pull in for a tighter line midcorner. Stay on the gas, dont change anything you do normally, slight pressure applied will help tighten your line.
obviously do not stomp on your break as you may well die.
Slight pressure whilst powering through will pull you in tighter. sounds insane, try it. with caution i might add.

i used the rear brake the other day
some lady in a RAV4 or similar pulled out in front of me, after pulling on the front brakes and realising i could evade her easily for some strange reason i stomped the rear and started snaking down the road towards her.
Not sure why i did that, was a sub concious decision made on the spur of the moment.

Realise your mistake?
If you grabbed a fistful of front it wouldn't have been pretty either. Smooth application required, just like your front

well thats what was kind of weird.. my rear brake is deliberately adjusted, so it is very soft. You have to stomp it suddenly to lock up the rear on my bike, something inside me decided to stomp it.

Something inside you yelled "Do a skid!"
After that you should have also heard "Do a wheelie!"
Did you?

i think i wanted to make the girl scared for as long as possible that she was about to wear me in her drivers door.
