Just wanted to say a quick thanks to the person who put a piece wood under my bike stand today. Didn't realise it was new tar in the car park and with a hot day like today, it could've ended badly. I've heard stories of this thing happening to people's bikes. I will be more aware next time. Thanks again if you're on here!

Has anyone seen a small piece of wood, it was wedged under the head of my boxer holding my bike up (the sidestand is broken). Some bastard's nicked it.

You put it under your side stand to stop it sinking into the hot blacktop.
To disperse the bike weight over a greater surface area then the little kickstand end and thus lessen the odds of sinking

Seems to be an issue regardless of where you park unless it's the oldskool rough-as-guts road.
I park undercover on a surface that would be at least 5 years old and it still sinks - gotta love the hot weather we've had this year!
Please remember to stick the right kind of wood under your stand, I used my wood once and it hurt me greatly

I'm missing the point, when are we getting the pitch forks out to find the guy who touched your bike?
not everyone wants to pickup trash from the side of the road, leave it for the crims and the junkies.

Perhaps we are misreading this. Perhaps it was the landlord and was actually cursing you and your bike as he didn't want holes in his $100,000 bitumen surface?
