    Riding round Penang

My piss-weak brother-in-law has chickened out of riding around Penang Island.

I don't feel I should go alone, as there will be no back-up if someone "bins their shit" etc.

    Thoughts?

Should I just go 'fuck it' and go by myself?

Anyone here in Penang and feel like going for a ride?

I'm at Batu Ferrenghi - so I'll head through the hills then through Georgetown.

It'll prob be just a scooter, can find anyone that hires motorbikes.

    So many 2 bangers here!

same problem we could only find scooters when we were there ended up leaving and doing a ride for the day in KL up to genting highlands.
Just grab a bike and a bucket and make sure you take a phone. it is pretty nice round the back of the island and not much traffic not to many roads to get lost on but you can easly endup doing 100 km although a loop is only about 70. if your worried bout getting lost just make some trip notes. you;ll have fun some twistys through the hills a guy on a KTM motard pased us twice one up once down he was loving it out for a morning thrash. can still have some fun on the 135 yammy scooters.

Yeh, I've done it before with friends. Just concerned I'll come off somewhere in the jungle and I'll get eaten by monkeys before they'll find me.

    beware of the Mat Rempit!!!!!!!
A Mat Rempit is a Malaysian term for "an individual who participates in illegal street racing", usually involving underbone motorcycles (colloquially known as Kapcai) or scooters. Not all Mat Rempits are involved in street racing; some of them perform crazy stunts for fun, such as the wheelie, superman (lying flat on the seat), wikang, and scorpion (standing on the seat with one leg during a wheelie),or shuttu le katti.

Mat Rempits usually travel in groups and race in bustling city centres on weekend nights. In recent times, Mat Rempits have been linked to gangsterism, gang robbery, street fighting, assault, vandalism, theft and bullying. Most motorcycles used by the Mat Rempits do not meet standard specifications, or have been modified extensively for greater speed, or just to make the exhaust noisier.

It is little wonder their road toll is so high. It's over 6000 a year I believe...
