Roehr with V-Rod 1250sc - Americas newest sports bike

Wonder how this would go against some of the other litre bikes around?

    Looks like an MV
    Handles like a Harley
Looks (from the airbox photo) like it has the traditional build quality of a Harley
Has the riding range of what, a pitbike?
They had to add a supercharger to get the output power close to that of an OLD R1 or GSXR

Still, my hat goes off to the guy for building something like that out of a pile of catalogue bits. Quite a feat.

Talk about a solution looking for a problem. What is it with the american obsession with the 1940s tech Harley Engine. Almost as bad as the Brits trying to get power out of the 3.5 litre rover V8 and Aussies working the Holden 253 engine. If you want power inline 4 is the way to go. Not an old cast iron pushrod twin.

And what's the deal with the dodgy welding? You look at a robotic welded Suzuki and it is like artwork. You look at a Ducati/Roher/Ferrari and it looks like it was done with by a year 8 with a stick welder. The new Ducatis are heaps better though.

I saw a Ferrari 348 once and the welding had more slags than Northbridge on a Friday night.

Hey it's a Ferrari. Enzo did once say that you are paying for the engine and you get the rest of the car for free....

The V-Rod engine is a quad cam, 4 valve/cylinder, watercooled, modern engine - not the aircooled pushrod Harley engine you are thinking of.

    Try 1920s.

I don't know that there has really been much in the way of worthwhile new technology in terms of engine achitecture for a good 80 years.

I'll bet those owners that experienced their K5-K6 GSX-R1000 frames FAILING COMPLETELY at the welds around the headstock were really impressed with the NEAT & TIDY work that those clever little robots applied.

When we decided to break for lunch, Cycle World’s Don Canet came up with a theory of what might be causing the Roehr’s odd steering response. His decades of riding and testing bikes pointed us toward the steering-head bearings where we found they were over-tightened.
    i like this bit^

check out our prototype.. waaahhh steering is a little fucked dont you think?

This is a prototype done by a small company - why expect everything to be done on a high budget? Also while everyone is complaining about the lack of power, what will make a bike get down the quarter mile and accelerate out of corners quicker is the torque, power usually will only affect the bikes top end speed. I bet this thing has torque in spades throughout all the rev range when compared to other bikes. Ever wonder why the V-rod could do a 10.5 quarter stock out of the box, no mods and it weighed a sh!tload more than the literbikes and only had a fraction of the power??

If you really want to see dodgy welding - Pull a panel off a Ferrari...
