I haven't been in the position yet to have to make the choice but inevitably it will raise its ugly head. If you were doing something naughty and the cops wanted to have a chat to you about it, would you stop or dump it and hope for the best?

Where would you draw the line?? Would you run if you know you had done something minor (ie. less than 10km/h over)? Or would it have to be something pretty full on (ie. 100km/h over)?

I don't think I would have the guts to run - too scared of the consequences and my lack of riding skills.

    Duffman didnt think so either...........

    all depends on conditions/ circumstances.

situation only come up once for me.
    30km/h over
    cop heading other direction.
gunned it and turned up a side street

if theyve been sitting behind you before hand theres no point. they already know where you live

I wouldn't do a runner (just cop it sweet mate) but I have been in a similar situation to duffman above. Cops going the other way on gt eastern out near the lakes. doing a good 38k's over the limit (the 90km/h limit for p platers at the time, but in a 110 zone) cops flashed thier headlights, I kept going hoping it was a warning, went around a bend and kept looking in my mirror. as soon as I saw the car with lights on I pulled over.
Were actually quite nice about the whole thing.

by doing a runner, all you're going to do is get yourself in the shit, risk an accident, and give bikes a bad name.
No amount of genius can overcome a preoccupation to detail.

No fricken way.. they're all too busy fighting the real crimes.
They have correctly applied opportunity cost to the situation and decided that spending an hour on this site is an hour they could have spent more productively getting badies.
Thats why I love our boys in blue

"Yeah I know what you're thinkin. Did he shoot six bullets, or only five. Tell you the truth I don't know myself with all this excitement. Just ask yourself one question. Do I feel lucky? Well...do you? PUNK?"

I think others have said it very well, if they are behind you you may as well take it on the chin and get on with your life.

Running can get you in a heap of shit...but depends how fast the bike is, if you have the specific licence and/or if your bike is yellow sticker material

Then again if it was for something minor, i wouldn't risk it....

I have also thought about this...

But heres some food for thought. I got a phone call one afternoon when I was out having a few drinks. It was some dude identifying himself as a police officer, asking my whereabouts as he couldn't find me at my 'registered' address. Anyways, after me giving him the shit (cos I don't tend to believe people who ring me up saying they're cops), him threatening me with an arrest warrant, and me checking out his badge number and his story with my parents (the police went to my parents house looking for me) we got to the real story...

Of the 5 (only) blue CBR600RR's in my immediate area, I was allegedly identified as a bike which on a certain night outran the police. Now they seemed REALLY pissed off, so whoever did it must have done it well. They apparently matched my helmet and jacket too... (-BS!) The point of the story is regardless of whether you outrun them at the time, chances are it will/can catch up with you.

The conclusion of my story is on the Thursday night in question I had multiple persons vouching for my whereabouts, and the cops did find the person they were after and rang me and informed me of that. Damn policia!

Up until that point i bet you were shitting elephants

The universe likes speed. Don't delay. Don't second guess. Don't doubt. When the opportunity is there, when the impulse is there, when the intuitive nudge from within is there, act.

I would suggest that the government, and more specifically MICHELLE ROBERTS have shot themselves in the foot over running with the new hoon laws.

    Picture this...

You're doing 150 down the freeway. or you pop the front wheel up going down Scarborough Beach Road, We all know that's not hard. A police patrol vehicle wants to stop you for the offence...

    50km/h over / mono is...

    1. Automatically Reckless
    2. Probable siezure of said motorcycle.

An aditional "fail to stop charge" might cost you an aditional 100-200 bux.

    So...

    Would you stop?

I'm not endorsing running, you make that call...

I'm simply pointing out the rediculousness of the hoon laws.

I'm with you on this one Melkor - Did the Gov introduce these laws in order to make people slow down or make them run??????

Split second - do you stop; do you run?
Beforehand you may say 'I'd never run' but put in the situation where you know your bike can leave them for dead and with loss of licence, fines and panic flashing through your head probably still on an adrenalin rush from whatever you did to catch their interest in the first place... Split second decision with no time for thought - Would you stop or run? Until you're in that situation, you probably won't know. Would you even remember posting 'I'd never run?'

I may be the spawn of Satan,
