    Scratch Removal

I parked my bike at waneroo on sat and the tape barrier they had around the parking area blew dover a bit and was rubbing on my screen buy the looks of it the tape had a lot of dust on it. Its left fine buff or scratch marks down the centre of the screen.

i tried "scratchX" i think it is called any ideas of what else would work???

Autosol metal polish always works for me but may leave the area looking dull. One of the finest abrasives you could use is toothpaste and a soft cloth, as a bonus it will protect against future cavities.

    STOP.

Scratches on paint are one thing, but on a screen? Something else entirely.

You can try the plexus approach to fill the scratch.

DO NOT use autosol or toothpaste on a screen, it will end up with a matte finish. The plastic is way too soft, the grit in the polishes is designed for metal or enamel (much harder).

Call Eagle Screens or maybe Mulford Plastics and ask if there's a polish available for acrylic to buff out light scratches. Last time I checked, it was going to be significantly cheaper and easier to just replace the screen. So I learned to ignore the scratches...

But worth a try from a plastics place. Post up results?

:edit: Veefore may be onto something - but take the screen off to do the polish and try it somewhere that's hidden by the fairing first.

Me? Paranoid? Not usually, but screens and helmet visors are soooo soft they are too easy to scratch.

+1 on not using an abrasive cutting/polishing compound on a screen, a lot of the Yanks like Plexus on plastics
