I found the same whe I had to post back to the USA, I'll try and dig the thread up, quite a few answers in there, not sure about sea freight though

Bubble wrap, then paper wrap, that type of packaging is best

By sending like that I should be able to get it down to 180ish aus instead of the 330ish it is.
