So it finally happened... Copped a yellow.

Finally got done for the FE. Got a yellow sticker.

Also copped a $50 fine and no demerit infringement for an obscured plate.
The cop said he would put a note on my file and if I got caught obscuring my plate again it would be a $600 fine.
Anyone know if this is recorded on my plate, my licence or just an empty threat?

I was given 8 days for the sticker, should be off well before then, I'm refraining from using swear words as I knew it was coming.
I used to have a nice sig offering to shadow ppl. Now I have no sig...

I wasn't being smart. Do you know that it is on your licence for sure or just speculating?

Yeah of course. That's the game we play.

The fine was for an obscured plate. Not the FE.

It would be recorded on your license in the police system that they use when they pull you up and check your license. Basically next time you get pulled over, it's going to be in their car computer system that recently you were pulled over and booked for such and such. Not too sure how long it stays on their system though?

From what I know, they can't increase the fines due to the frequency of the issue, but thats for normal stuff. Why not just bend it down a bit so they can read it. Thus you will only get done for the FE.

Yeah, I have to change the number plate as it is damaged. The FE will def be back on. The cop would not explain to me just what he meant by 'it will be recorded' that I have been warned.

Was hoping it is recorded on the plate that is about to be changed, not my licence.

i know of people that have been done for covering there plate over and over and the cops always say "you know next time its a big fine".

does a traffic cop even have the ability to make changes to your file ? surely they have no access to your license thats all through dot.

They are in their right to just send you to court for obscured licence plate, and that will hurt a lot more

I doubt that they leave notes against your drivers license as I've been pulled over 3 times in one night and none of the cops knew about it when they pulled up my plates.. They could under special circumstance though I guess.

I got pulled over a few months back for having a tax disc slightly blocking my plate (1E looked like 1F) and they gave me a warning for it, they said if it was a traffic cop that had seen it I'd be sent to court.

Hope the yellow gets off easily!

I'm with you moxie, why bother, half the time the FE looks goddamm awful as well for others having to look at it

As for the obscured plate, oh well, if you do it you risk it, even if that's all that's wrong with your bike, I'm sure they'll find something else to make your life a little harder

I have been done twice for obscuring my plate (both times straight into a booze bus) and both times got a $50 fine and no demerits. Got pulled a third time and was let off, I highly doubt they note your licence - sounds like an empty threat to me. If you take the chance then you have to be prepared to take any penalties given to you if caught. For me the risk is worth it - I have two points left and a speeding fine by a stupid hidden rear facer is more my concern rather than a fine for covering up my plate.

I'm not after sympathy or a debate on how FE's look or are they worth it.
The yellow will be off and FE will be back on.

I'm just trying to understand what the threat of an obscured plate being recorded actually means so I can make an informed decision. It was Fremantle traffic branch the pulled me over.

miles go to the DPI website and you can check how many points you have left on your license and normally it states how long that fine is on your license for.

Ah that sucks! I'm finally getting my sticker off this Thursday.

In regards to the obscuring plate I have no idea so thought I would do research....

After readying the road traffic act, the road rules act, the driving handbook then calling the DOT, police (131444) , office of road safety, the people who wrote/legalise the laws and my local traffic department NOT ONE of them could tell me the maximum or even suggested penalty. The road traffic act mentions to not do it but mentions NO penalties...I would lean towards it being horseshit but with no proof otherwise would err on the side of caution - particularly in freo again!
