    Off details.
1st one was 30 years ago

T-boned Car on 125 trail, I was coming out of bush in Coolbellup looked left forgot right, impact front left wheel of car and sailed over car and into clearing and light Scrub.

    Travelling Slow-ish/Quick-ish?
    About 40kmph

    Hit the ground Light/Heavy?
    Heavy

Once on the ground I Slid/Tumbled
Cleared car and supermaned for 10ft or so and tumbled then rolled and slid on back into scrub.

    What gear were you wearing?
Fullface helmet with gogles, Jeans, rossi boots, kidneybelt and upper body armour, and armoured gloves.

How well did your gear hold up?
Lost body armour on impact with ground, but it took most the of impact. Lost left cheek of jeans with nice grass/scrub rash to ass to match. Lots of scrub in helmet, glad for gogles.

Did it in your opinion save your ass?
You bet it saved my ass.

Would you recommend or warn other riders off any of the gear you were wearing?
Body armour was best investment I ever made for off road use, only saves you once but thats all it needs to. Gogles saved eyes from injury.

    List of injuries
Bruised and lost skin on left knee.
Suspected broken ribs but nice and sore for a couple of weeks.
Armour shaped bruise to left shoulder.
Cut under left eye from scrub glad of gogles.
Skin off left ass Cheek and F*cken biggest bruise that I ever had.

Second one was 5 years ago.

Playing with a mates sons KTM 80, with race mods in Nangara Pines.

    Travelling Slow-ish/Quick-ish?
    About 30kmph

    Hit the ground Light/Heavy?
    Heavy on left foot.

Once on the ground I Slid/Tumbled
Tumbled and ended Face first into lime stone gravel track.

    What gear were you wearing?
NO Safety gear, just jeans, shoes and T.

How well did your gear hold up?
Gravel rash to jeans and put hole in my sock from left ankle break and bloodied left shoe.

Did it in your opinion save your ass?
NO, First time without wearing helment or boots f*cken dumb and paid the price.

Would you recommend or warn other riders off any of the gear you were wearing?
When playing with any Bike, Road, Trail or Push, Wear the SAFETY GEAR.

    List of injuries.
Broke ankle and put it through the skin, also busted lower left leg as well. Big Screw to put Ankle back on and Plate and 4 screws to fix broken leg. Good news is Ankle is as good as new just a heap of scrars to remind me of why we have PSG.

    Travelling Slow-ish/Quick-ish? About 50-60KM/h

Hit the ground Light/Heavy? Not light but not really heavy. I am a heavyweight and so is my bike so when the front washed out it was never going to be pretty.

Once on the ground I Slid/Tumbled? I slid, Looks like elbow and knee took the main(personal) brunt of the slide...thank goodness I put the motor-bars on a couple of weeks ago. Covered maybe 18-22m on the ground and mounted a low-rise curb into a sandy verge

What gear were you wearing? Shoei Lid, New Leather Jacket that cost $200 from Gumtree, Draggin Slicks, "5" High-Flow Gloves and Shift "fuel" Street Shoes.

How well did your gear hold up? No hit at all to the Lid.
Jacket has a nice scrape on the elbow and fore-arm that transferred a nice burn onto my arm but nothing too bad.
The Draggins have a hole in the hip but aside from a small bruise on my hip there is no major damage to me. Similarly there is a nice scar in the material but no penetration at the knee just a small transfer burn.
Gloves had protection in all the right spots and offered excellent cover and are still very wearable.
The Boots took a bit of a hammering but are fine and stopped me from getting worse damage but you get what you pay for and these are a light-weight boot and as a result I have a broken toe and sever bruising.

Did it in your opinion save your ass? FUCK YES!!! I swear that I will never squid and ride in any way other than a Learner trying to pass a test would.

Would you recommend or warn other riders off any of the gear you were wearing? All of me gear stood up and offers good protection but the boots are a little light weight and I will be upgrading to a more solid and less flexible boot in future. the Jacket was by far the best value for money safety gear I had on.

Hope this helps others in their choices about gear.

    Here's my bumping contribution

Off details - hit from the side while lane splitting
    Travelling Slow-ish/Quick-ish?
    slowish- 20-30kmh
    Hit the ground Light/Heavy?
    Landed on my head-heavy
Once on the ground I Slid/Tumbled
Landed on my head so neither
    What gear were you wearing?
M2R helmet, Alpinestar GP Pro gloves, Dririder textile jacket, jeans, shitty shoes
How well did your gear hold up?
Helmet has a few scratches, the force of me landing on my head pushed the helmet into my collarbone and broke it; waiting on 3rd xray to see if surgery is needed. Possible torn muscles in my upper arm
    Gloves - abrasions to knuckles
    Jacket - nothing
Jeans - ripped, road rash on right leg
Shoes - f**ked, car hit my foot which took off the shoe and pushed my foot into the rearset (rearset snapped :O), some fleshy bits dangling at the ankle and nerve damage
Did it in your opinion save your ass?
yes, but should wear riding boots next time
Would you recommend or warn other riders off any of the gear you were wearing?
Recommended, even at low speeds you can be unlucky

Details from ALF Grand Final Day (1st game) Off

    Travelling Slow-ish/Quick-ish?
sweeping right hand bend with a blind T-junction at the end of it and at time of dismount probably about 50 – 60k

    Hit the ground Light/Heavy?
    hit the ground hard

Once on the ground I Slid/Tumbled
being on gravel I did a bit of both, testing every item of safety gear I had on, probably travelled about 5 – 10m on the ground

    What gear were you wearing?
    Red Wolf “spectra” riding jeans
    Icon summer gloves
    HJC IS16 helmet
    "wicked leather" leather jacket
    TCX SS sport racing boots

How well did your gear hold up?
All gear held up really well, I ended up with a broken wrist, broken rib neither of which gear would have saved me from (other than a shit load of bubble wrap) I had a small bit of skin off on the palm of my hand when I planted my hands down to break my fall, I’m guessing that I hadn’t fastened up my glove (bad habit of mine) and it slid up a bit
I head butted the ground when I went down and only put a few scratches in the helmet and broke the mechanism for the visor but as I hit with a thud it’s now been binned & replaced but I didn’t even get a headache
Slight scratching to jacket but just adds to the character of it, protected really well and wear it daily

Did it in your opinion save your ass?
ABSOLUTELY, I’d have been pretty fucked up without it

Would you recommend or warn other riders off any of the gear you were wearing?
I have no problems with recommending anything that I was wearing, everything is still very serviceable and aside from replacing my helmet all is going to last a good while yet

150km/hr highside at a wet eastern creek turn 3. Impact not to bad as I was surprised to see bike between my legs whilst I was still hanging off finishing the right hand corner. Dragged right leg over bike to keep low. Slid uphill, fore armed front wheel but the other riders bike layed on me. Kicked off bike, tumbled till regaining slide to the top sand trap.
Helmet = Shark rsr2 carbon helmet. Front tyre of following rider left some rubber on it.
Suit = 2 piece Berik Rapture, jacket with tyre marks on shoulder. Excellent armour and comfort. Sewing quality is excellent. EXCELLENT
Boots = Sidi vortice air, scraped minimally.
Knox contour bp resewn from 1st page of this thread, I suffered no new injuries.
Alpinestar GP plus gloves 100 per cent, my last pair finger sewing came apart a month after last high speed accident. Phantoms look impressive...
I'm very impressed at the quality of these leathers and boots. Knox Contour, if you don't have it, I'll just say that my spines fractures happened above the BP. None under it.. BUY IT. I'll keep these equipement and buy tyre warmers. I'll hopefully not report any other incidents lacking skill. Bikes fixed, hope there is a dry track coming or I'll be (SH******) nervous.

    Travelling Slow-ish/Quick-ish?

    30-40kmph

    Hit the ground Light/Heavy?

Pretty heavy (front tyre lock up in committed lean due to being cut off by cager, bike flew out from under me and lowsided, with me flung well clear)

Once on the ground I Slid/Tumbled

Slid a few metres and stopped by kerb

    What gear were you wearing?

Rjays helmet, RST jacket, DriRider gloves, Draggin jeans, Alpinestar boots

How well did your gear hold up?

Really well, visor scratched, palm of glove scraped and right side shoulder (on back) of jacket scraped - nothing needed replacing although I replaced the gloves regardless. Draggin jeans have a scrape patch but did not wear through. I look at the scrapes fondly as a permenent reminder to pull my head in. Only injury was Draggin rash on my right knee which was not that bad, healed in a week.

Did it in your opinion save your ass?

Without a doubt in the world I would have been much worse off without the gear. I wheeled the bike home and then got into a cage and went to work, would have been a hospital visit if I was squidding.

Would you recommend or warn other riders off any of the gear you were wearing?

Do what you want, its your life but I have never ridden without my gear again. Just not worth it to me...
    Its all good.

Wasn't really much of an off, but I came unstuck at about 5-10kph, ended up in riding position lying down (leg skin took the roadrash instead of the tank = inexpensive mistake!)

I remember my elbow slamming into the ground and the shock reverberating up through my shoulder..
.. and having time to think "wow, so THAT'S why those elbow pads are there!"

    Gear?
M2R perforated leather jacket, Dririder glooves, Rjay's helmet

Only damage was my leg, scratching to end of clutch lever and indicator.

Did it save my ass? Well it was more of a drop with me under it than an off, but I'm pretty sure my elbow would've been in a bad way if it had hit the tarmac without the padded insert.

Travelling Slow-ish/Quick-ish? Catch me if you can speed

Hit the ground Light/Heavy? Heavy.... after hitting the car heavier

Once on the ground I Slid/Tumbled? Bounced, then tumbled a little, then slid in with style

What gear were you wearing? Icon airframe lid, Icon Ti-Max Gloves, M2R Leathers, Sidi Vertigo Boots

How well did your gear hold up? Lid, gloves and leathers held up great... boots not so much.

Did it in your opinion save your ass? Saved more than my arse! Saved everything except a few toes but who needs them I am more aerodynamic now.

Would you recommend or warn other riders off any of the gear you were wearing? Would definitely recommend Icon gear after that, I landed dead vertical on my head and the helmet took it all and held up really well after the hammering it copped. Leathers were a bit torn up but I can handle that with what they went through and all i had was a graze on my knee from one of the impacts. Gloves were quite good broke a finger and a thumb but can't blame that on them.

And on to the boots.... After my experience i wouldn't buy Sidi again, not because of the damage to my foo as that was going to happen with the forces involved but the boot split right open and after trying on more boots since I dont think they are made as tough or reinforced as others (now own Alpine Star Supertech R boots and think they are much better)

My Off about 6 months or so ago

Off details - Car pulled out infront of me, tried to swerve and go around them but lowsided it.

    Travelling Slow-ish/Quick-ish?
    slowish- 50km/h

    Hit the ground Light/Heavy?
a bit of impact, not too hard but it did hurt.

Once on the ground I Slid/Tumbled
Slid for 20-40ish meters down the road before hitting a cars rear bumper

    What gear were you wearing?
Dririder textile jacket, textile pants, leather gloves, normal shoes and a Sparx s-07(?) helmet

How well did your gear hold up?
Helmet - scratched the helmet up but nothing major, still replaced it though.
Gloves - scratched up but I still use them
Jacket - right shoulder, arm and side have been worn down in some places where I slid down the road
Pants - right side of the pants is worn from where I slid, the pocket zip broke too.
Shoes - right shoe scratched up, tongue was ripped a bit

Did it in your opinion save your ass?
Yes, without the gear I would be missing alot of skin and have a broken wrist/shoulder/hip at best.

Would you recommend or warn other riders off any of the gear you were wearing?
I still squid for short rides and sometimes to/from work on a hot day, but if I'm going on a long ride or group ride always in full gear
Straight roads are for fast bikes - corners are for fast riders!

    Red face NATATALE--nice one

Dunno if ima doing this right.....But yair....Came off tonight on a bush track,.with armour under nylon top,..and as usual it worked good..Was just wondering how it might go on the bitumen (caves road etc),.and then your post answered that question. Prefer the IXON Climber pants also due to armour..Draggins seem a bit vulnerable to impact. Anyway i enjoyed reading your tales of mishap....Quote :"Better the armour than an arm or a leg." (Flying face plant into sand..Luckily no rocks.....Busted the mirror off at the threaded bracket after ploughing into a full stop hump while swerving thru some soft stuff)
1st one was 30 years ago

T-boned Car on 125 trail, I was coming out of bush in Coolbellup looked left forgot right, impact fron

How well did your gear hold up?
Lost body armour on impact with ground, but it took most the of impact.

Did it in your opinion save your ass?
You bet it saved my ass.

Would you recommend or warn other riders off any of the gear you were wearing?
Body armour was best investment I ever made for off road use, only saves you once but thats all it needs to. Gogles saved eyes from injury.

Armour shaped bruise to left shoulder.

Second one was 5 years ago.

Playing with a mates sons KTM 80, with race mods

Did it in your opinion save your ass?
NO, First time without wearing helment or boots f*cken dumb and paid the price.

Would you recommend or warn other riders off any of the gear you were wearing?
When playing with any Bike, Road, Trail or Push, Wear the SAFETY GEAR.

    List of injuries.
Broke ankle and put it through the skin, also busted lower left leg as well. Big Screw to put Ankle back on and Plate and 4 screws to fix broken leg. Good news is Ankle is as good as new just a heap of scrars to remind me of why we have PSG.[/QUOTE]
