Double Spotted: Yellow Baby Blade, twice. On Mitchell South this morning - once when I was passing you whilst splitting and the second time whilst on the side of the road after I had been pulled over by popo on wheels for splitting recklessly (80km/h+ through barely moving traffic might've been a little excessive I guess!) - he lubed the pineapple up then put it away with a warning, really nice cop - cheers!

I just as a general rule won't split traffic that's moving at all, so I'm a pussy and you can ignore me. That said, I personally agree with the cop. The other two riders who split past me before you did so much slower, and I was actually thinking to myself "Shit, I hope that the black humvee that's been weaving 80 metres ahead of me doesn't take him out."

I was actually feeling somewhat secretly vindicated, as thanks to general scaremongering, I won't even split past traffic stopped at lights unless there's room to do so without any part of the bike being vertically over the line. Good to know that he just stopped to have a chat with you, I thought he was going to get you for changing lanes without indicating or whatever the usual rap just for splitting is.

He followed me for about 2 minutes, so I made sure to slow down the 5km/h I normally do over the limit (yes, I've been pulled over for doing 5 over before), and was wondering if he could find anything illegal at all in my riding. No disco lights, so I assume not.

Did you see me or him behind you just before you were coming off Mitchell? (And yes, I know one of my lights is out, it only works on high beam, I'm 99% sure the cable's loose and I'll be looking at it this weekend.)

@ Xanthian: Yeah I saw you guys as I was turning off Mitchell, even gave you both a wave from the off-ramp! It was nice of him to quietly pull me aside and give me a little talk about the splitting - he started by saying it's not illegal to do so however there are some obvious rules (indicate to change lanes which I do religiously) and a limit to how much quicker you can be going before it's considered 'reckless' and they take yer license. He turned out to be an accident investigator and was genuinely concerned about me dying more than giving me a pineapple as I imagine he's seen some pretty gnarly shit... think I might try and settle down a bit with the splitting however I tend to be pretty careful if a little too brisk (i.e. if there is an opportunity for a car to move over then I'll be covering the brakes, sitting up a bit higher and planning an exit strategy... if the cars are door to door but slightly moving then I figure it's open season...)

I think I may have seen part of the learner ride turning onto Erindale Rd from Beach road at about quarter to seven... only really noticed one high vis vest and a yellow babyblade. Was maybe 15 or so bikes.
