    Spraying front forks?

    Hi Guys,

Does anyone see an issue with spraying the top chromed shaft part of the front forks? I believe the bottom of them slides into where the fork oil is so i dont know if this is a problem.

The chrome is rusted is looks shite.. wanted to spray them gloss black...

You want to spray the sliders?

That is a no no, unless you want to TiN coat it/ or rechrome. Expensive.

Depends - in the zone which is covered by the seals at full compression, yeah, the seals will tear the shit out of the paint in no time flat. You are better off getting them ground, re-plated (chrome or TiN etc) and polished.

Above that line, though, shouldn't be a drama - if you can get the paint to stick (don't be rubbing it up with sandpaper, though, that's just nasty).

To find the go/no go line? Put a cable tie around the tube, just above the fork seal. Go for a ride, with some hard braking over lumpy road. If you can bottom it out, you know you're there, otherwise give yourself a little extra margin, but when you get home the cable tie will have moved up to about the right spot.

you can do what ever you like to the part in between the top and bottom triple clamps, just dont paint below the bottom clamps as will affect your seals, and dont paint the sections that are in the clamps as it will work off leaving your clamps loose.
