    Suspension Setup r6

    Hey guys

Im just after some information on my suspension for my 2006 r6. When I try and bounce the bike up and down it looks like the bike is not moving as one. Also When I just bounce the rear end it keeps going. I got a friend to help me out by bouncing the back end of the bike and it trays to shift me forward and I don't think that is good right? Im thinking the bike was set up for much haver ride as im the 2ed owner of it. Now I will need to change the rear end the most and the front just a bit.

I have never played with the suspension of a bike so I will need some info on how to go about this. Im 85kg and about 188cm tall.

ah I have just seen Jules post from 2007 This may help me. But yet again how hard is this to do? And is it just batter for me to go some where and pay some one to do it for me and give me some tips at the same time or just do it my self?

There's a DVD you can get that goes through a lot of the setup stuff. Can't recall the name at the moment buys its around 7 hrs long. Good if you want to understand suspension a bit more.

Marty's also a great option that will answer your questions directly, videos might not.
When I get sad, I stop being sad, and be AWESOME instead. True story.

Currently it sounds as if your compression and also rebound between front and rear are out of sync (one is rebounding quicker than the other)... As a baseline setting, you should set up your sags (pre-load) of the front and rear. There should be many on-line resources that will show you how to do this.

Once the sags are set-up, you then centralise your compression settings in the middle of their adjustment range for both the front and rear. Then you need to set your front rebound setting, by doing a bounce test, and ensuring that the forks rebound the entire stroke (and don't double or triple bounce) over about 3/4-1 second. Once the front is set, do the same thing to the rear shock. Then bounce the entire bike to ensure that the entire bike compresses and rebounds at the same rate. Adjust to suit.

Or alternatively, go and see Marty MOOSE, who will be able to do all of this with you, as well as explain it all and also make other suspension set-up suggestions.

For an 06-07 R6, you will probably find that you need to get the standard rebound shim-stack built differently, as no matter how much you try to slow the rebound, the standard rebound circuit won't work properly, which will appear as bouncing of the suspension during rebound at the top of the stroke. Otherwise the rest of the set-up of the standard suspension is actually really good.

Thank you very much BlackFZR for that info. I did pm Marty and will just pop in and see him before I do any damage to the bike.

Just got back from a big ride after Marty fixed up my suspension. The man is a god! My bike is so much more fun to play with now, I don't have to fight with the bike it to corners and I even have more confidence now. The bike is so much more responsive eg quick direction changes.

Yet again Thank you Marty the best 50 bucks spent ever!
