Is there any road racing for kids in Perth?
I have been looking around both on here and on the net about road racing for kids (10 or 12 years and up), something along the likes of pocket bikes.
Or has there ever been an interest put forward to the racing aberration to consider starting something like this up to promote and develop younger riders to the sport, I know my kids both have a keen interest in pursuing this as a sport if it became available.
So my biggest 2 questions are, would there be a big enough interest to consider starting up a junior racing club and what would be the age range's ie. 10 years to 15. or maybe a longer age.
I will attach a poll to get an idea, if there is enough interest I have no idea of how we can go about possibly starting one up but I'm sure we have enough resources here on PSB to possibly try, If this is an old subject that has been considered in other places by all means let us all know.

We need a new, smaller, tighter track for lightweight motorcycle racing. A bit like AHG but approved for racing.

Personally I think that Wanneroo is suited quite well to the smaller bikes. The lap record for the juniors was set on a 80cc Moriwaki and is something like 73 seconds.
If they wanted it tighter they could just add a chicane somewhere along the hill halfway before turn 7 for next to nothing.

If not Barbs - then maybe a Kart track?
There are a couple of contenders, but i don't know the process for racing sanctioning, might be prohibitive.

Kart tracks are probably too tight given the corner speeds the juniors are capable of.

You have to be 15 to start racing in the Juniors. only other way at the moment is motox...which is probably the best way to get started anyway.

Sent an email to MWA to see what they have to say about the possibility of starting a junior category for road racing, As Fastgirl said probably have to start the kids on motox then cross over.
But as I said in the email that is ok, but the way the sport is developing it may need to be considered to have a younger category to allow kids that just want to race on the road a development program to allow them to pursue that goal.

I repeat, we need a race circuit for lightweight motorcycles. Even if Barbagello can be used for such a purpose - there is little available room in it's timetable.
I lived in South Africa which has many world-class (full size) race tracks and yet there were also many smaller, tighter tracks for 50cc-125cc road race bikes - and that's a 3rd World Country ferchrissakes!
btw - a circuit such as I am proposing need not be fancy - something like AHG would be great.

I thought it was illegal for kids to do road racing until they are 15? Thats why the Stoners packed up and went overseas - so Casey could race.
