Wouldn't it be better to put the bike on a truck and fly there and back. I'd have to take serious drugs to drive that straight for that long.
How much would it cost to ship several bikes to say Tasmania for a week? That would be worth it surely?

$240 fuel (guessing 15km/l and current fuel costs) each way.
Something under 37 hours @ the legal limit, including fuel & snack stops each way.
    No.

Yeah - 4,348kms if you shortcut through Port Augusta SA.
That's better than 120km/h average for 36 hours.
Your mate should be in Le Mans.

And that is on average. Meaning they actualy had to go faster to compensate for petrol/piss and food stops, changeovers, slower moving traffic you can`t immideately overtake and so on...

It's definitely doable for short distances. For something that long where you would need sleep you would need more than one person. I cut a 3:30 (according to google maps) drive down to 2:30 without any trouble.

When you add in food, accommodation and fuel it is cheaper to fly. Petrol in the middle is around $2 a litre and a hotdog is $10.
