Tyres, how long, what is good?
Is it normal for a tyre to only last 10K? I've got a GPX 250 with a pretty worn looking rear tyre and am looking at getting a new one, what is good?

Try 6000Kms on the Pirelli Supercorsa'a.
Depends on how you ride and type of bike.

Sounds normalish for a GPX. If you keep a good eye on your tyre pressures I've heard of people getting 15000-20000 out of them. The stock set only lasted 8000 on my gpx but I wasn't careful with the tyre pressures.
I'm using Pirelli MT75s on my gpx at the moment. They're a rounded tyre which worked wonders for the kind of street riding and the odd track day that I used them for. They're probably not the best for commuting. I'd recommend having a chat to Peter at Tyres For Bikes if you're stuck on which tyres to get.

try getting only 4000kms on a rear pilot power 2ct - sigh
10,000kms is excellent. I am hoping to get that out of the pilot road 2ct
For your GPX, it sounds about right

I'd say 10,000km is about average, +/- depending on how hard/fast you ride and what type of tyre it is.
I had 10,000 out of my ZZR rear, 9,000 out of the BT015 in my 600rr, and 11,000 out of the first set of 2CTs on the 600rr (600 and i'm fairly gentle with the throttle out of corners).
edit:
Do yourself a favour: get a front at the same time. If they're the original tyres, they're probably crap. You want the rear to be breaking traction first rather than the front - pairing up a nice new grippy rear with an old hardened shitty OEM front = not the best of ideas, in my opinion. Particulatly if you're "slow and new".
2c.
