Just been reading the PSB track day thread and there is a mention of aus compliant lids. What is the situation when it comes to using a lid bought in the UK too Auatralia ??
It's a Shark lid i use.

I think you'll find a lid needs ADR compliance (and a sticker to prove it) to be legal here.Just been reading the PSB track day thread and there is a mention of aus compliant lids. What is the situation when it comes to using a lid bought in the UK too Auatralia ??

If it doesnt have the Australian Standards sticker (or the equivalent Snell approval etc), forget about trying to use that

looks like a new lid 4 me then
yup unfortunate as it'sprobably exactly the same lid that's sold here without the sitcker. Buy a cheap shit scooter lid and xfer the sticker![]()
You'd have to get a bastard of a copper to ping you for a non-AS lid.
It's just as safe to use here, and in the event of an accident causing injury to your head, there's no good reason for them to decline a payout IMO.
Coppers probly wouldn't notice.
Scrutineers probly would.
CAUTION: ATTEMPTING TO OVERTAKE THIS VEHICLE MAY RESULT IN A HIGH SPEED WHEELIE
Yes they do need to have the Australian Standards sticker to be legal. It has
numbers which relate to the production of the helmet (hence you cannot get
a new sticker attached, it's void without one). Having said that mine is Japanese
and the police never check (although there is always someone on here that has
been done or whatever).
Spiral out, keep going...
and if not ADR might cause serious INSURANCE complications....
(I don't mean track-wise.. road-wise)

You cant, when you peel the sticker off it comes apart so it can't be transferred.yup unfortunate as it'sprobably exactly the same lid that's sold here without the sitcker. Buy a cheap shit scooter lid and xfer the sticker[/b]
Trust me when I say that insurance companies WILL ALWAYS find a way NOT to pay out. You'd have to get a bastard of a copper to ping you for a non-AS lid.

Do yourself a favour and get a new lid. Not worth the risk....IMHO![]()

There are links from this to other discussions too.
Bottom line, to be legal and to do track days you will need to buy another helmet (like I did)
Go see Jono at Lloyd Chapman Motorcycles in North Perth when you get here, he will do you a good deal.
Otherwise just risk it, the main thing is that you have a decent helmet on your head.

Street coppas don't care, they never check.
Between me and my dad, we bought over 3 Arai helmets from the uk. I posted a question on this before we migrated, and basically as said before, you would be exceptioanally unlucky to get caught for this.
It will not stop me or my dad wearing ours for the road, as the helmet is not structurally any different to the Arai's sold here, it just hasn't been tested to oz regs and therefore carry the sticker.
Just bring your lid with ya mate, and if need be ya can get an oz lid with the appropriate stickers for doing trackdays at a later date, to keep the scrutinering (sp) guys happy.

I couldnt find the road race ruling the other night.
Helemt must carry either sticker for MA events
1. Europe ECE sticker
2. England BS 6658
3. USA Snell M95
4. Japan JIS T 8133:2000
or Aussie AS1698
As far as your insurance goes in Perth, you would have to check with your insuuerer. Im not sure what the police can do about helmet stickers etc.
But definitely, for a Motorcycling Australia (MA) event here, your helmet must pass thru scrutineering.

Ummm so you say that in an open forum with the Scrutineers able to read all about it.... (remember for this PSB Track day scrutineers will be members of the forum) now he most definately has to get a new helm....Just bring your lid with ya mate, and if need be ya can get an oz lid with the appropriate stickers for doing trackdays at a later date, to keep the scrutinering (sp) guys happy.[/b]![]()

I think you might have misread that Gryph, I read it that he was suggesting that he should use his UK helmet on the road and then when he wanted to do track days he should buy the appropriate Oz compliant one.
