Keep an eye out for a huge increase in unmarked cars. i have seen more cops in Holden station wagons than patrol cars in the southern suburbs. 4 yesterday alone
so be aware of the telltale signs, brake dust on standard wheels ( but i have seen 2 with covers) and the dead giveaway, the small straight aerial that is located on the passengers side windscreen, cage in the back. I have found them sitting with the flow of traffic at about 10 k's over the limit and waiting for the ones going a little faster.
so be aware these predators are out there.
this has been a community service announcement

You'd have to really question the tactics wouldn't ya, other times they bust your ass for 10k's, now it's ok coz that way they can hide in the flow.
I'm a great believer in the Law being the Law, so this type of crap really irks me.
Maybe we should start a system where we identify and report them, coz obviously they are breaking the law.

I've always liked the idea of a "citizen's traffic infringement". Kinda like a citizen's arrest but less drastic.
Pull one of these arrogant Ds over, flash your license and "Sir, do you realise you didn't indicate correctly at that roundabout back there ?".

I just spent 10 minutes venting my spleen in a letter to the editor for the West Australian.... but I doubt it will ever appear.

I believe there's no such thing as a citizens arrest in this country.

I saw a new type of light system the other day where the flashing lights were on the inside of the rear window (was pulled over on the freeway) was a calais looking new model commodore, with those lights pulled down i would never have picked it as a cop car and is an excellent method for getting speeders on the freeway. PS: there was another cop car, and ambulance, 2 motorbikes and a commodore on the side of the road, i could not see either rider for the bikes as i went by at 100km/h but both bikes were standing up on sidestands / parked so i assume something was wrong with the commodore.

These lights aren't new. The first time I saw them was when they started cracking down on the illegal drags at Kingsway/Wangara/Landsdale, and that was a good couple of years ago.

I think I saw that same calais last week in nedlands.. It pulled some over done ute over along side the road. Its was a dark greenish colour (cop car). Absolutely no dead give aways and would have been very easily mistaken as an average sedan <_<

cop cars would be a whole lot eaiser to pick if every second person who bought a VT exec didnt think "ill lower it and put pursuit rims on it. that will look cool"
also curious, i heard that undercover cop cars didnt have rego stickers on them. any truth in that?

no...but they should all have 6/current or next year rego
they're not required to be rego'd but they wear the stickers so people dont complain.

Unmarked patrol cars have only one purpose, that is to catch people and ticket them to raise revenue.
I can tell you from bitter experience these guys are only interested in giving you a ticket.
yet more shifting of the burden of police work from catching criminals to penalising the general public for trivial offences.

so what you're saying is the only purpose of these unmarked police cars is to detect offences and issue the appropriate penalty under law.
Yeah...who'd want the police to do their job?

They are PATROL cars, that is their job pal, police DO catch criminals or try anyway, they are in other sections for instance general duties, forensics, detectives, child abuse unit, drugs, asian gang squad, bikie unit - do I need to go on? Its funny how people are so fixated that police want revenue, its not like police see that money its not like that because this copper gave out 800 fines this month he is gonna get a promotion or the boss is gonna be happy with him, and its not like he is going to get better equipment or a pay rise because he did that, the money goes to the government they rub their hands together and send more PATROL cars out while all the other police are still doing their thing. Sometimes it helps to back off and take a look at the bigger picture, just because you got ticketed or whatever by the fuzz doesnt mean the coppers arent catching criminals

Hmmmm, are you sure about that one??? All vehicles in Western Australia are required to be licensed if they are capable of being licensed, Police vehicles included.
All police vehicles (according to the TRELIS system) are registered to the Commissioner of Police and have had full TPI and duty paid.
