Hmmmm, are you sure about that one??? All vehicles in Western Australia are required to be licensed if they are capable of being licensed, Police vehicles included.
All police vehicles (according to the TRELIS system) are registered to the Commissioner of Police and have had full TPI and duty paid.

OK you may have caught me out here (first time i think ). I cant say 100% if what I said was correct but it was my understanding that the police vehicles are not subject to licencing as they are a government car. This seems to fit as cars are bought and sold in the fleet every month but they always carry the 6/year rego. I sure I was told as much by a sergeant once when I was given a handfull of stickers and told to go change all the cars stickers over.
Seems crazy to make the government pay licencing to the government, but I guess it is the government.

sorry-my mistake,
the unmarked commodores with tinted windows and radar units fixed to the windscreen on the drivers side near the bottom right corner are for catching child abusers.
Definitely.

I don't mind cops doing there job... just so long as the enforcement of the law is equal. None of this targetting crap, how about just enforcing the law.
I take great offence when I'm picked up for speeding whilst I was being passed by other motorists, why as a motorcyclist was I singled out from amongst the cages? This makes me believe in a level of systematic politically based corruption, and cops are being used to instill it into our community.
It may not be an election winner, but the law needs to be enforced with 'joe' average just as strongly as the pollies/commisioners/media espouse it should be enforced with the 'hoon'.
I hear cage drivers go on about how the multinovas don't catch bikes, thats why it's fair that bikes are singled out by traffic cops. WRONG. A law that is not equally enforceable across all members of society should not be enforceable at all.
Such was the case with the 'Kings Laws' which were abandoned when found to be biased and unjust.
Instead of wasting thousands of dollars evaluating front number plates, change the law, turn the cameras around, take pics of everybody. Then just pick up everybody irregardless of what they drive or ride.
After all more people are killed by 'joe' average than by the 'hoon'.

FFS read the post you dick, I never said the unmarked cars are or arent used for catching child abusers. What I DID say was that they are patrol cars and their job is to patrol the streets and they are PRIMARILY there to enforce traffic law - IF they are in the traffic section. Yes it is your mistake, might pay to read the post you are replying to next time.

I would have thought it would be better to have MARKED cop cars out there, to prevent stuff happening and being proactive rather than reactive.
More of a deterrant really.
Just my opinion though..

if its not about money, they how about they do away with fines, and double the number of points you lose?
that way "dangerous" drivers doing 11km/h over the limit down a hill are off the road sooner, and "mr lower class" doesnt have to sit in his car fixated on the speedo for fear of not being able to afford to pay his rego on time
i have no probs with undercover cars being on the look out for stolen cars, or drink drivers, but when they sit 10km/h over the limit, and slap you with a fine for being 8km/h over, that just sux
halve the number of cops doing revenue raising, and get them to catch real criminals
then sell 3 quarters of the multinovas, and use the money to buy booze buses
i would bet my life that youd see less burgs, and less deaths

I tend to agree ... The ride up o'briens rd the other day proved this ... we had the attention of the police (even though it was unmarked we knew who he was cos he had just pulled someone over) and it made us ride like grannies the whole time just knowing he was there.
If the police REALLY believed 100% what they were saying that "Speed Kills" etc etc then they would have a marked patrol car on every corner, not like now where you can potentially ride across the whole city and not see a single one.
I say patrol the heck outa the roads (who cares, roads are for going from A to B legally) but provide multiple locations that are very cheap where you can go to flog your bike/car around a controlled track and a drag strip and a skid pan for burnouts/stunts etc. ... Get it outa your system in a controlled environment and just commute on the roads. I know there is Barbagallo but it is not cheap or accessible enough.
I didn't think that through too hard but it seems like it would make sense. For the mean time I will just do all this crap on the roads cos there ain't nowhere else to do it!

It's a shame the blue light drags arent run anymore, and at this stage we don't know whether they will be coming back.
The police at one stage were giving out $100 passes to the motorplex to "hoons" (I got one) to encourage them to get off the street, but I think they aren't doing that anymore either.
It would be good to see them subsidise whoop ass wednesdays at the plex, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
That said, people will still do it on the streets, that's something that will never change.

ding ding ding
we have a weiner
if i had somewhere else to do it legally, i would be so much less inclined to throw the old commodore sideways through a roundabout, or see how quick the bike can go down the freeway (hyperthetically)
i cant believe someone hasnt started a business and just said "$50 and u can do as many drags and burnouts as u want for an hour"
[comes back to reality]
its too logical to actually happen. more multinovas will solve the problem

Actually you can pay $30 bucks and do it for 4 hours at the plex.
Though they dont like wheelies down the return road.

small hypothetical question, how many people on here have sped by alot on public roads with cars around (alot i mean by 200+), probaly find a very large majority of the big bore riders, thats why we get targeted by the cops because at the end of the day most of us are hoons and have a great deal of fun doing it and say F#$K the consequences because it wont happen to me.
if you dont like getting fined then simple, dont do it.
my 2 cents

Cant help but think that if coppers are allowed to drive faster than the speed limit due to thier training that perhaps we should make everyone do that training and solve this problem once and for all.
That they are allowed to drive faster than use belies the claim that "speed kills" (no suprise there) and in fact it is lack of skill that 'kills'
ill expect them to update thier advertising campaign after they read this.

michelle roberts' reply to the driver training for young drivers argument is that if you give them the training to drive fast and get sideways and stuff then they will be more likely to do it on the road. that translates to - "driver training would cost us money, multanovas make us money"
