Anyone on here that parks behind the General Purpose Building (2) (aka 2nd year geology lab)?
Ive also seen people leaving jackets on bikes which seems like a bad idea. I leave my gear in the lab when i get to uni, saves mucking around for 10 minutes locking everything up

Well, I see I'm the parking thief. My apologies. I've been eyeing off that spot for about a year but now it makes sense to park there I'm very happy with it. Hopefully there aren't any issues... I might park along the wall if I'm not the only one down there now. The only people to care would be people who can't get a bike rack

@Storm - Come next year whenn i hope the AUD is above parity with the USD i intend to be rocking out some ICON gear ... even though im tempted to buy it now.
Should go perfectly with the strips on the Pramac.
Not a big fan of carrying my helmet around uni and since my bike is pretty much useless when it comes to being practical (read: storage), I invested in a $20 cable lock from Bunnings to secure my helmet on top of the bike's seat. This kinda works as a super sweet double security feature as it locks the helmet across the actual helmet shell making it harder to steal and also makes it practically impossible for anyone to sit on the bike and ride-away with my baby. It actually kinda looks pretty neat
This post also doubles as my formal introduction to the UWA PSBer's thread. Nothing fancy.. 1st year Arts-Communications.
just the tip..
From the looks of the picture that police bike has plenty of storage space
Thanks for the advice! I purposely went for the non-tinted visor on my helmet for the reason that I do often study late at uni - although I have to wear glasses when I ride anyway and I'm finding they provide me with enough protection when my visor is up (this may change once I have my license and ride more often - speaking from very limited experienceCourtz, a few tips from commuting basically every day for the last 4 years to uni:
Get a proper backpack with the waist and chest buckles - distributes the load much better when riding instead of killing your shoulders.
Pack only what you need for that day - leave other note pads etc at home.
Downsize everything. Got a textbook that can be accessed online? Leave it at home. Get a small netbook rather than a large laptop. Not only are they smaller and lighter, you also don't need the charging accessories as the battery life is about 8 hours.
Might be personal choice, but yeah leave your stuff on the bike. I used to carry my stuff around but the novelty wears off very quickly, particularly if you're trying to fit all your stuff under your feet in a lecture and end up all cramped. Of course you run the risk of it being stolen, but those are the odds you take.
Pack some clear safety glasses if you have a tinted visor in case you end up staying long hours and you need to travel back in the dark.)
I have a proper bag which I use now as it is (unlike most other girls, who walk around bent sideways because of the weight in their handbags - idiotic, I think) and although the idea of a netbook is great, my laptop is only a year old so not looking to get a new one anytime soonMaybe next time. Although my battery does last 8 hours anyway (good ol' 9 cell). The new wireless network is at least going to make accessing online textbooks far less painful than it is with SNAP, hadn't thought of doing that so must make sure I do!
Sounds like there's no easy way to store gear - either spend 10 minutes locking everything to the bike, leave it unlocked and risk it being stolen or carry it around. Bummer!
Yup, blue R6 - I usually see it at Reid though. Seriously I don't like to go on about chicken strips, we all have our comfort levels etc, but the guy must only ride in straight lines, it's quite spectacular.
Haven't seen you around for awhile Matt?
Did anyone notice the "free" scooter parked at reid today?
Not for individual sale.
Not a bad idea, best to plan for that when buying the bike. I checked how much it would be to buy a set of frames and hard panniers for my bike and I believe it ended up being somewhere in the region of 60 bagillion dollars.Though I wouldn't mind having a nice cruiser with plenty of storage space for all of my uni gear one day..
Further to the discussion of protecting one's helmet from rain, just saw some poor bastard empty a couple of litres of water from their helmet.
