So what does UMC ... do? Like it's very cool having an official club and all, but what's the point?

That's not intended to be phrased in a negative way, I'm just curious. I maybe missed all the discussion about it, but I haven't seen any posters or info or anything, legitimately no idea.
    Not for individual sale.

... I asked the same question a few weeks ago.

I've found in the time that's passed that it's just easier to carry on life as usual.

Like any other club at UWA its just so people with the same interests can socialize. There's lots of motorcyclists at UWA so why not give them some sort of avenue to express their interests? Thats pretty much the reason for all clubs whether it be anti-war, christrian societies, drinking, anime and what not. Theres not really much other point then that.

If you wanna get to know other motorcyclists who go to UWA then join. If you dont care or PSB is enough then don't join

We've organised a couple of events already (including riding and non-riding events), even have a lunch ride on tomorrow in fact. It's hard to get the word out, we are trying as much as possible though - posters around the guild, tavern, flyers on bikes and posters on our own bikes so people can see them in the bike bays. We also have a facebook group and have been organising events through that as well.

Our first ride I think we had 13 people turn up, which we thought was pretty good given we only gave people 1 week's notice and the club was only officially 2 weeks old. So far, the response has been really positive - particularly for those who are non-PSB members. PSBers already have a motorbike club to be a part of so I can understand why they see a second one as being pointless - but there are loads of people who dislike PSB for various reasons or just don't happen to be a part of it and are looking for an alternative club. We've also had members advertising, buying and selling bikes through the club and its FB page, plus general bike discussion etc through that page as well.

Right now we have limited funds, but with events in the near future we're hoping to fundraise so that come 2012 we can make ourselves better known and increase our membership. Like Tash said, there's an official club for nearly everything you can think of at UWA, there are FAR more ridiculous clubs than having a Motorcycle Club. It's just another way for us to get involved in campus life and meet more motorcyclists, make more friends... etcetera. Luckily, club membership is entirely voluntary! So if people don't like what we do - they can just, I don't know... not join?

Anyone want to do a few laps at Relay For Life this weekend at the very early hours of the morning?

Just as a bit of fun, I want to get bikes with loud exhausts to ride onto the track, do a few laps with security chasing them at 2 am in the morning and then ride off into the sunrise. Who's keen? remember, its all for charity!

So I have completed a few bachelors over at an enemy camp and I am now at UWA this year to do my Masters in Criminal Justice. Few questions for UWA PSB'rs

    1. Where is the best place to park the bike up? atm I'm parking next to the old law and commerce building off Hacket drive. (I'm assuming bike parking is free like Curtin and Murdoch?)
    2. Where is the best coffee?
    3. Do UWA PSB'rs meet up or have any uniformity? (see what I did there)

Hey, the best person to ask is coutz, she seems to know everything and is really nice, I'm new too. By the law is one good spot but by the tav and science library are also popular.

Look on the umc Facebook page and any rides on there are fun to go on...best coffee? Guessing you mean on campus and even then its broad way :-P well maybe not coffee but for everything from beer to sushi and the BEST kababs.

Hope to see ya round, look out for the tri colour cbr250rr :-)

I park at the end of the car bays off Hacket Entrance #1, just next to the Club. Haven't had an issue yet. The somewhat hidden bays at the top of campus near the tennis courts / security are usually pretty empty too.

Best coffee? Ned's on Broadway, just down from the Caltex on the corner of Stirling / Broadway. Rocketfuel was good, but the people making the coffee lately are doing pretty bad... Should be a Rocketfuel on campus sometime this year, hopefully some better people will be working the machines.

What! I've got the same bike and I haven't seen you on campus?? Granted I park where I live near Broadway - but how have I missed another tricolour RR!

Best coffee on campus is at the Science library cafe - the guys there can actually make something drinkable! Keep in mind this is best, not actually good...

Is the UMC still on this year? I reckon I'll actually sign up this year, now I'm confident enough to not totally embarrass myself in front of other UWAers.

Pfft, unlikely - I've just discovered another crack in my fairings last weekend, and they are repaired with nail polish from when one of the previous owners slid it down the road. Mine's parked nearby, I'm renting a flat near broadway so I just walk to uni - but tomorrow I reckon I could bike the two corners and leave it at the science library. I'd love to take a look at yours if you do park it there, I love my bike but it isn't in the best condition, I need some motivation to clean it up a bit.

    1) Best/Nearest bike parking depends on where your classes usually are. If (a) you're up for a walk, or (b) it's raining, or (c) you're the type that hates parking under the sun, there is undercover parking beneath the new business school at the far southern end of the campus. Otherwise, most places are fine to park in general. Try to stay away from the south-west end of campus though (near the art gallery at the entry of Fairway from Stirling Hwy). There used to be cases of bike theft and vandalism around that area.

    2) Might get flamed for this, but IMHO, no good coffee in UWA sorry. The closest you get is La Gallette along Broadway I think.

    3) Not in UWA anymore so not sure about the current situation, but we used to meet at the tav once every often. Maybe you can start gathering up the current batch of boys and girls

    Hope this helps S.

I am up for a meet and greet at the tav or could go for cheap eats at broadway. Tuesdays I have a 5 hour break between classes from 12 so can go then.

Parking: I park underneath the business building as it is undercover. Always plenty of spaces

Undercover parking sounds good, Looks like a bit of a walk to the Law building but worth it to keep the girl looking shmick.

Wouldn't mind meeting all you nerds I don't have regular days but if you guys are meeting up and I'm around I will drop by to say hi.
