    Meguiars Nxt Generation Car Wash
Funny enough, I was just talking to my friend about that. Our speedometer has melted and as a result it's very hard to see with any degree of accuracy exactly how fast we were going.

Meguirs and a Karcher high pressure cleaner, bitten black polish when I had a carbon fibre exhaust. Fine scourers are handy on steel exhausts where there's carbon build up around the exhaust tip, kero for chain and a toothbrush, all from bunnings. Also wd40.

Admittedly i'm abit of a newb when it comes to cleaning my bike. Few things i've been struggling with have been
Cleaning Chain - Removing Dirt and Grime (asked service to do for me but they conveniently forgot)
Removing the grim/oil build up on wheel rims

    Any advice?

I kero/toothbrush my chain. When it goes in for a major service I get them to remove chain and clean it along with the sprockets. Grime on wheels - WD40 and a rag.

Preen degreaser is pretty good although wouldn't use it on your chain, bets the crap out of scrubbing between cooling fins. CT18 truck wash and occasionally a bit wax/ silicone based polish to get the body work shiny.

Same for chain I use kero, toothbrush and rag. For my wheels I use 3M wax and Grease Remover.

you have to use a rear stand if you want to lube a chain properly.

pop the bike up on a rear stand, start it and shift up to a high gear and hose CRC or WD40 into the engagement side of the rear sprocket for 30 seconds. then let it run for another minute spool it up to fling off the excess. shut down, wipe the chain and swingarm down with a rag, start back up in a low gear and hose a single layer of your chain lube 3 to 5 seconds.

don't be a moron and stick your hand, fingers or rag anywhere near the engagement side of the rear sprocket and chain when the bike is running, use the extension nozzle that came with your can and spray from the side outside of the line of the chain and sprockets. use a drop cloth to control the mess.

If the chain has tar like deposits on it that need to be toothbrushed out you are doing it wrong. A little lube often works much better than too much lube not often enough. You dont need to clean a chain everytime you lube it. it makes me laugh when you see chains with the outside of the links covered in chain paste, the outside of the links don't need to be lubricated the pins and rollers are what takes the load.

wipe down the rim once with a rag soaked in degreaser to wet the rim, wait a couple of minutes then wipe off with the same rag.

Wash with any decent car wash in bucket of warm water.
WD-40 works a treat for removing grease, bugs, oil, tar and other blemishes before washing.
    Chamois dry
Then finish with Maxima SC1 which is bloody fantastic. My CBR600RR is black and green and the black is a real bitch to get it looking streak free after cleaning. Spray on SC1, wipe off with soft rag and the bike is back to showroom looks. It's about $20 for a large 12oz can and lasts forever. And makes your bike smell soooo bewdiful

Screw washing 'em, I bought my bikes for riding, not for impressing the neighbours.

Put a Scottoiler on, then you can forget about doing any maintenance until you chuck it in for service. Ask them to adjust the chain and clean the bike while it's in. Problem solvered!
