    Would you do this?

In the long term I don't think we will have a choice, but would you do it now, if it reduced your insurance by a significant amount?BBC News - AA to launch sat-nav tech tracked insurance policy

I think all vehicles will have black boxes before long. The technology is there, it is a matter of political appetite as to when it will become compulsory.

Can it detect if the driver is on the phone while driving? That'd be a win.

The measures include monitoring speed, braking severity, cornering
    Not a chance in hell

Id rather pay higher premiums and be the only person worried about how I ride..

    to add.... as an example

I practice Emergency Braking about weekly, wait for an orange light, check mirrors that no ones behind me and going to go up my ass, and lay on the anchors.... then roll up to the line... I believe the day I need it, it will be totally natural... (just something I like to do).

Blackbird+me=approx400kg and it pulls up in an amazingly short distance... awesome brakes

Now imagine I had one of these installed.

first practice brake.. red lights flashing in the control room - should we send an ambo?

after a few months Insurance would be tripled because I am "regularly braking harder then required"

    Pass thanks

Can I just subscribe to the tracking service for fun? I'm interested in receiving regular performance updates if it says it can monitor cornering forces.

Look at germany or Japan for what's happening in the car future, they are a few years ahead of everyone else.

Judge the character of a person by the way they treat people who can do nothing for them.

I can see this needing to be fitted to our vehicles as a punishment the way alcohol lockout is fitted.

I would love one that turns on remotely as soon as you move... say 1m away from the bike, it could hang off your key. That way, if someone hotwires it/throws it in a van etc. you can GPS track 'em down with a machete and amputate their gonads.

    i'd want that as compulsory

there was a young lady on and off her phone[obviously organizing her social life] as we were merging going up the freeway last night.

the urge to jam on the brakes was strong, let her side swipe me, jump out , grab her phone and stomp it to bits.

    Fixed.
This department requires no physical fitness program, as everyone gets more than enough exercise jumping to conclusions, flying off the handle, running down the boss, dodging responsibility, and pushing their luck.

I haven't had so much as a speeding fine in around ten years, but I would not want this or support its introduction. Personal freedom and liberty should not be subject to a cost-benefit analysis.

Tracking devices like this exist already and are readily available. They aren't necessarily cheap, but if you have an expensive toy, they may be worth it. (Machete is extra )
