My brother just bought a Yamaha FZX 750. It's a pretty nice bike. Easy to ride, plenty of kick when it's needed, but it's an '86 model so needless to say it needs some pimping. Does anyone own one of these? What do you think of these bikes? are parts and accessory's easy to come by? I'll try to get a photo of it soon and post it up.

Well i dont know about the "X" but many years ago i owned an 85 FZ 750.
Bought new and back then they were the best thing since sliced bread, along with the "NEW"gsxr 750.
They handled brilliantly(with a 16 inch front) and were one of the best performing bikes of there time.
I loved mine and have always regretted selling it(should of just stuck it in the shed)and owned it for 5 years.
They dont stack up to todays 750's but were good in there day.
Only mod i ever did on mine was stick a pipeline(anyone remember them) 4 into 1 on it .
Covered 100k on it and never had a problem.

From memory they won bike of the year in 85 and 86 and won races around the globe.
superbike class was 750 back then and our own Micheal Dowson did well on one.

Yep, I have the 85 FZ750 lucky strike model, needs a tidy up and repair the handle bar from when i dropped it... other than that goes well.

It's in retirement at the moment due to my new bike though ... just not willing to part with it yet.. thinking of making it a project and bring it back like new again.

    FZX 750 Fazer.
I owned one in the mid 90’s back in the UK .
Not a bad bike . Same basic motor as the FZR, (which at the time was the dogs do-dars in the 750 class ).
The FZX was created in a similar style to the VMax, but don’t let that put you off , it handled pretty well.
The power was a little down on its “R” sibling but thanks to a simple to remove air box restrictor and a re- jet you could get quite close.

As far as bits go – engine, drive chain and switch gear same as FZR.
Cosmetics like tank cover, side panels, dash etc where unique however some components like grips, mirrors etc very similar to the Virago range of that vintage

The solid cast wheels really looked the part and set the bike off well and with a bit of a polish. Must dig out the photos .
