Them: "Nah, he was probably speeding, his fault really, bloody bikes"
YOU on the other hand, want us to say: "If he was thats really dumb and he is partly to blame, but I dont think he was"
See the subtle difference? See how ever so slightly you then condone thier anti-bike attitudes, vindicate thier baseless assumption, and support thier blame shift? Its slight, but its there, and I think you are clever enuogh to see it.
