A320 Aeroplane down in New York

All safe, plane hit by a flock of geese, pilot bought the plane down on the Hudson River, plane sinking.

Pilot kept the doors of the plane closed until the boats arrived, because of the freezing water, a few being treated for trauma, but most 100 odd passengers OK

Even more impressive was the fact that he landed without power, both engines shut off

It's not often the plane remains in one piece after ditching like that. The crew did their job exceptionally.

Amazing pilot work. I thought these sorts of planes were tested to survive birds? I was sure I saw some safety standards where they were throwing buckets upon buckets of dead birds into the running engines.

It takes a fair effort dislodge a blade, but then have that dislodged blade run rampant through the rest of the compressor and turbine. The engines tend to fuck out pretty quick.

And for shits and giggles the chicken gun. They use to test.

    Understatement.

I want to see video of the splashdown.
I already know that it will be one fucking impressive piece of flying.
Enginge out water ditch in aircraft with underslung engines.
Those guys will never buy beer again.

"Oh, you're the guys that took the A320 into the hudson?" Ka-ching.

1 in a million chance of pulling that off.

That's even better than the guys who safely glided (glid?) a 757(?) onto a disused airfield after running out of fuel at 39,000 ft over Canada.

lol ...actually you can get a lot of crapy stuff off utube about this incident. No footage of it happening though.

Anyway, good to hear people survived.
