A man is in custody after a frantic police chase through the streets of Perth finally ended in Malaga after he crashed into a police car.
The two-hour chase involved the assailant switching between three cars as he tried to lose police.
The last car, a red Mitsubishi Triton ute, ended up on its roof after crashing on Alexander Drive, police spokeswoman Ros Weatherall said.

Police said he stole that car in Swan View and drove it down Toodyay Road as well as Roe Highway.
Witness Anthony Del Casale said he drove up to a Holden Commodore the man was driving at the South Street/Kwinana Freeway lights in Murdoch about 12.15pm.
Mr Del Casale claimed the man got out of the car and tried to commandeer a stationary silver Holden ute.

Police arrested the man on the corner of Alexander Drive and Australis Avenue.

When the ute's driver accelerated off, the man got back into the Commodore and sped off through a red light and down South Street toward Roe highway.
At the time a helicopter was in pursuit and unmarked police cars were following with no audible sirens.

Kwinana Freeway motorists warned to beware of speeding car.
The man was arrested on the corner of Australis Avenue and Alexander Drive around 1.30pm and was interviewed at Warwick Police Station.
He was initially evading police on Kwinana Freeway in a Subaru WRX, heading towards Rockingham, before he dumped that car for a Holden Commodore.
Radio 6PR reported that the carjacker was last seen driving the red ute along Reid Highway towards Malaga in Perth's north-east suburbs.
Police could not confirm how he gained occupancy of each vehicle but
exclusive pictures from the Channel 10 helicopter show the man trying unsuccessfully to carjack an orange ute, before a police officer pulls a gun on him and he gets away.
The man was originally being pursued by police on the freeway, before the police chopper was employed as the chase stepped up a gear. The man was reportedly driving on the wrong side of the road, 6PR said.
Ms Weatherall said police chased the man down the freeway towards Rockingham before the car turned around northwards.
The driver dumped the silver Subaru before switching to a "blue or black" Holden Commodore.
Ms Weatherall said the chase was extremely dangerous for motorists.
"We're asking motorists to please be careful and if in doubt pull over," Ms Weatherall said at the time.
"It's a very dangerous situation for motorists."
