Yeah just saw it. The image quality is now fantastic. I got done twice by polair calling ground support years ago before the technology was as good as now. The massive down side of living near Jandakot airport.

Had polair over my place the other day completely blacked out, not even the normal single flasher, you can hear them (but not if your on your bike / in your car) but at night bloody hard to see them. Sneaky buggers.

Obviously Polair is a fantastic, vital tool. It can be used for rescues at sea, searches in the bush, transporting injured people to hospital etc etc etc. But, its cost what...11 trillion dollars per hour to run, how the fuck can they justify using it for fucking traffic matters?

and i say that not as someone who wants to get away with speeding, but as a pissed off taxpayer who is funding this venture.

Well the fact that we are talking about it is exactly why the police use it for car chases... they are the in thing... just look at all the police camera action "shows" on TV... people love watching that stuff and the media loves it.. I would expect to see more and more of this type of footage... regardless of the fact that it costs a small fortune to operate it. Of course they only only have to catch one "bad" person trying to escape the police and find some drugs or other stuff and then they will be justified in chasing down every single speeding car becuase it could be a drug delaer, etc...

I suggest if you have somethign to hide or like speeding that you move to the northern suburbs... at least make the buggers spend 20 mins in the air to come and get you... not like me living near Jandakot!

For the same reason that we can justify sending navy vessels out to the back of nowhere to rescue idiots like Bullimore.

The assets cost money to sit there, they cost a bit more to run - but fuel and engine hours aren't that much in comparison to retaining staff and the amortised ongoing expense of the capital base. So pay the extra little bit and keep your staff trained, current and with their skills up on traffic matters because that's all there is to do most of the time.

Then when a real need for polAir comes up the crew are ready, competent and confident.
