They also sit in the emergency lane where the tunnel joins the Mitchell freeway.

Hopefully one day karma will have have someone having a tyre blowout in a 4WD with bullbar and it veering off into the emergency lane.

Saw one this morning riding down the emergency lane from Hutton to just past the Glendalough station and propping him/herself into position for their next victim.

Is it legal to ride in the emergency lane now>? Must be...
Ive seen two riding up a onramp in the emergency lane the wrong way with their light flashing , i called up and complained and ended up getting some BS story that they are allowed to return to if they have just pulled someone over.. but these guys were clearly taking a short cut rather than riding down the road another 2.5kms to loop over the correct bridge.

They use the loop holes rules in there favor , if they dont have there lights going call it in...

How dare those bastard cops do something we can't just because they can, it's as bad as those damned murdercycles cutting between cars in heavy traffic jumping the queue, someone should totally fuck them up or dob them in so they learn to do the same as everyone else has to and wait their turn.
Do you remember the good old days before the internet?

Don't have a problem with it if it relates to them doing their job. I've seen them lots of time activate sirens to get through traffic/intersections only to turn them off again when they're clear.

sometimes that is justified tho. and a lot of stuff gets called off the minute its on. i dont think an copper would want more attention than they already get.

They'll probably charge the driver with Assaulting a Public Officer if it happens.

i have seen them there too. it seems like a particularly stupid/dangerous place to park. no doubt it is quite lucrative though.

And they also like a bit further up from that spot by the tunnel, where the lanes merge on the ramp just before Mitchell Freeway. Dangerous location as well. The advantage of that spot is they can get ex GFF traffic speeding/illegal merge and they also have a good view with the laser to the south up that sweet sweet sweeping left hander that drops in northbound onto Mitchell Freeway, from the West Perth part of the interchange. Speed through there and they have a birds eye view of your numberplate from about 10 metres as you go past making evasion pointless.

Yeah I saw them do that a few years back as they came up Beach Rd westbound and flicked on the siren and ran a red right onto Erindale Rd, I came from Beach eastbound and came around behind them as they pulled into the Warwick cop shop, I guess they must have been late for their donuts

I wonder if they'll pull the bikes off the freeway during winter. If not, I guess we'll see them under every bridge during our commute each day.

I was talking to one of the bike cops at the Bike show in November. Id say the reason they "hide" under bridges or up onramps shaded by trees is that WAPOL wont issue them with proper bike jackets. They have campaigned to get a summer mesh textile jackets but the hierachy wont listen. Their jackets arent protective at all.. except for UV.

If I was a cop and had to waste my time sitting around geared up in a hothouse jacket, i dont think id find it in me to let off some 'shit head' Id caught.

On a side note... i was on my way to an occupational assesment yesterday to have my sore back assesed. I was in my cage, and a chick in a white Hyundai Gets tried to barge past my left in a merge point. She failed - and it wasnt one of those im not letting you in things, she was trying to push through traffic.
Then as I had to stop behind a car further up the road as it was turning right, I watched in my rear vision mirror, she wasnt slowing at all... her head was down and both hands were off the steering wheel. Luckily she looked up last second .. skidded to a stop and her hands came up when she grabbed the steering wheel and her phone flew up and hit her windscreen. If she hit me... oh god.... I already have a sore back.... i wouldnt have held back and made it clear to any witness i could see her texting on her phone before she locked up.

Wish one of the bike cops were nearby, but alas at 12.30 it was very hot n humid. Id say there is another reason you see them mainly at peak hour.

saw cops use lights and sirens to do a u-turn at reid hway lights on erindale rd, just so they could set up a radar 500m back toward the cop station. try and tell me that's legitimate use of emergency signals
