Looking at the list of previous offences in the paper today, I can't see why he was bailed in the first place.
He's gonna be staying in lockup for a while for breaching bail, but I hope his lawyer doesn't get him bailed again.

The speed limit for going the wrong way up the freeway is -80 to -100km/h

So at 140 the wrong way, he was perhaps 240 over the limit.

Today his lawyer told the court he wanted the charge downgraded to dangerous driving causing death. He indicated his client may then plead guilty because he wanted the matter dealt with as soon as possible.

Nice. Kill someone while pissy driving then act like it's all huge inconvenience. Hope the prosecutor sticks to his guns and gets him for the higher charge.

What worries me though is that the Police get a bit overzealous with charges, they pull the highest charge they can out of the book but with the higher charge comes a higher standard of proof, and if the evidence doesn't exist to quantify that standard of proof, the chances of the guy getting let off that charge and walking increase.
