Thought I'd wait a while before posting this to check for any health ramifications. Since I've been off work I've been riding the pushbike around way more than anything else as my primary form of transport simply because I have nothing else to do and no real time constraints.

That was until I was coming back from Jacob's ladder at around 5:20pm Wednesday night last week (so it's getting dark but not there yet). Fairly zipping along, doing about 30-35 km/h with a car way further back behind me so I'm riding in the middle of the lane, and in a classic, "I didn't see you with the lights and your high vis fluoro shirt on" moment, a BMW Z4 pulls out right in front of me. No indicators, no brake or front lights, nothing.

I collided with the driver side door and slid down part of the bodywork before coming to a stop sprawled over part of the bonnet. 105kg of man, bike and gear @ 30 km/h apparently carries quite a bit of force into Z4 - enough to tear the front mirror off and cave in the driver side door. I wasn't that mad initially as there wasn't bleeding or swelling, nothing was damaged on the bicycle, etc.

Then the bitch got out of the car.

She starts going off at me, saying how come I didn't see her, etc. she was clearly right of way... I was all, "F*ck off you had right of way. You didn't check your mirrors, if I was a truck you wouldn't be able to drive home, you're pulling out of a car park into a moving lane of traffic." She starts ranting and a workman in a ute stops behind us, hazard lights on and yells out, "You orright mate? She just pulled out straight on top of you." She goes ballistic at that, I wave him on, and she asks for my DRIVER'S LICENCE to report an accident. I look at her, pause for a moment in sheer shock at such a stupid suggestion, say a few choice words then take off through peak hour traffic (which as most people would know here, is much faster on a bike than it is in a car - even on a pushbike).

F*ck that bitch. She deserves everything she got. I should have expected it from a BMW driver, but I know a few and they're not ALL bad... just seems to be the ones driving Z4's.

5 days on my knee is a bit sore, tiny bit of bruising around the knee but otherwise I'm fine. Still no swelling, walking around fine - did the million paws walk yesterday. Pushbike is doing ok.

Can't say how glad I am it wasn't the ZZR as I have just found a buyer for that and would have been pissed if it got damaged.

BTW, if the dude in the ute is reading this, thanks for pulling over mate.

Tenchi: you know you broke the law by not giving her your details? Being a bitch doesn't change this. There would easily be $1000 of damage, which is the limit where it needs to be reported.

I'm not saying she's any less deluded, but if she can track you down you could get done for leaving the scene of an accident.

Yeah man if she was obvoisly in the wrong you should have exchanged details. If you were in the wrong I could understand running away (I wouldnt run myself but I could understand)

I'm kinda with Tenchi on this, illegal or not. He wasn't at fault, the cow deserves everything she gets.
Congrats on not dying also.... No doubt some of the more responsible members of PSB will call you an arse for riding off, but had the scenario been the other way around (As has happened so many times here on PSB ) And you'd been injured on your bike, do you think the woman would've hung about or fucked off (If she could've). Bearign that in mind, I'm inclined to say she would've acted like a right cunt about it, and firmly depressed the accelematrix pedal and zoomed off, leaving you practiacally for dead...

The biggest issue here is that Tenchi has now broken the law. He should have taken details from the fellow who pulled over to see if he was ok and details from the lady. Realisticaly, the popo should have been called to the scene. Although the sandy vagd prissy little upstart is clearly in the wrong, Tenchi's chosen course of action is now likely to bite him in the arse if it ever catches up with him.

Yeah I understand he's now a criminal, and it'll probably come back and get him. But at the same time, how often does a motorcyclist come off because some clown cuts them off, and then drives away?

Two wrongs don't make a right

I wouldn't think there would be major issues... She was at fault, she probably won't report it anyway and she will have to pay... Regardless of if she got Tenchi's details or not.

You should have got her details IMO. The reason been is she was clearly in the wrong and the fact that you are on a push bike doesn't make it less of a traffic offence, she may have a history of this and reporting her could save someone else in the future. You probably did the right thing though, riding off is just so much easier and why get the popo involved so that they can do nothing as per normal. Licence plate post would have been nice.

I would have gotten her details because if you were seriously injured you could sue her for the medical bills. Since you seem to be alright I would say it all turned out for the best, she's not likely to ever track down an unnamed pusbike rider (still Perth is a small place, posting it on here probably wasn't all that smart either) and she's stuck with damage worth nearly a thousand bucks.

One thing about that kind of person is that she was obviously all out attack, if they had of exchanged details I Tenchi probably would have ended up defending himself in court. Even if the magistrate threw it out, and theres no guarantee, it's still a fuck around.

Actually medical bills would go through the 3rd party insurance attached to her license. But of course, judging by my gf's current experience ICWA probably would have blamed Tenchi for not seeing her.

So far there's basically two options:
1) Do the correct thing, take the possible chance that the law favours the (financially) poor person on two wheels and not the person with enough money to spend on a decent lawyer should it progress further (not to mention I will be leaving the country soon so I won't be able to say anything if it goes anything beyond a simple, "It's your fault") OR
2) Do what I think is the right thing, head off, never be seen again, not have to deal with it. She foots the bill for the car, I don't have to worry about this anymore, her premium goes up a little.

The posts here are very applicable, but really it wasn't that tough a call. I did #2, it was a very selfish and not legal thing to do. Barfy is right, Aphex is right, Jedi's right... but again, if you're heading international and not coming back for a long time what would you do? The courts and johnny law take time and money to do things, which is not something I have.

that^ is making me see red.

some cow in her silver honda integra tried to pull out into me from a stop sign the other week. i was only doing about 20kmh and indicating to turn right across the front of her, she looked straight through me and pulled out.

so she gets out in the street completely blocking both ways before she sees me and stops.. with me landing my little stoppie and glaring at her while trying to check my mirrors for someone to clean me up from behind and get the bike back into first and for her to get the hell out of the road so i can get going again.

crazy bitch started waving her hands around in the air sif to say 'where the hell did you come from?' on that bright red bike with big twin dispersed beams 1m from her bumper, big arse orange blinking things and mirror visor reflecting her stupid face back at her.

her initial reaction was one of anger at me, i could see it in her face. i reckon some survival instinct must kick in that makes people put blame on anyone but themselves.

i was a witness in an accident where a woman backed into someone in the street.. and she was sitting in her car in shock from being in an accident so we had to get her out of the car to exchange details with the vehicle driver... who she immediately accused of backing into her! i sincerely believe that she had convinced herself that that was what had to have happened. damage was rear of her car and side of the other car... not hard to figure out who reversed into who.

that crazy evil bitch then rang me up (cos i had provided details as a witness to them both) and tried to explain to me how that guy had reversed into her i just laughed at her and said the way i saw it she was 100% at fault.. it was sweet.

This happened to one of my neighbours. He's a charter vehicle driver. Woman reversed into him in a Wilsons undercover carpark (later, the footage showed this) while he had a client with him. He got out and asked for her details, she said "fuck off, you hit me, I have to go get me Kids, fuck you" or words to that effect, and sped off. Fortunately the neighbour got the plate, reported the accident, etc, etc. She called bullshit apparently when the insurer/police contacted her saying you've been naughty, said he hit her and drove off, etc, etc.

What the bird clearly didn't realise is that my neighbour had none other than Dr. Karl as a witness.... Apparently he was more than happy to sign an affidavit indicating the course of events...

I hope she got fucked up the arse by a whole sizzler dessert bar.

How often do we all get arked up and rant about how fucked up that sort of thing is?

I slammed on the stoppers and went around you shaking my head. YOu then throw your arms up and abuse me. Nice one you f*cking retard, when you f*ck up, its not the other persons fault.
