All I'm seeing is a whole bunch of back-pedaling.

It's not a problem with merge like a zip.
It's a problem with the users of the roads in Perth that a far better suited to other tasks, say fellatio for example, than driving. If drivers weren't such fuckstains, then there would be no problem. Unfortunately, having wheels of any kind attached to your vehicle in Perth means that you are legally obliged to drive like a slunt and as such not know how to:
- Merge
- Keep left
- Indicate on roundabouts
- Drive on roundabouts
- Travel anywhere near the posted speed limit

Yes... But I have suffered an upper body paralysis from my poor arse attempt at the 100 pushups thread, so you'll have to find someone else to administer the punishment.

The problem is that the big clusterfuckery when concerning merging, usually happens on faster roads (eg, Fwy's Hwy,s @ 80+) where learners are rarely taken.
Maybe if the phase 1 learners permit allowed learners onto the freeway or the test involved freeway driving, drivers in gerenral would actually have to be capable of travelling on a fwy to get their license...
|
Before it gets too late:
The only problem most learners have with forming one lane is the wankers in the next lane that all need to get past before the lanes merge. Heaven forbid they should be stuck behind someone that they know isn't going to be speeding.
Rule #1 of driving: Once you pass your test it doesn't matter how you drive, as long as you don't have a fender eliminator.
Basically this means that pretty much everything someone is taught is soon forgotten or ignored as their levels of confidence and ability increases. I would guess that within 6 to 12 months of clean sheeting a test most drivers will be driving in the same retarded manner as the people around them. So often I'll explain what to do in a situation (even why it has to be done) and the response is: "But nobody else does it."
Once there's nobody actively reminding them and watching them they simply don't care.
Also; as of the 30th June overhaul, phase one learners are allowed on the Freeway.

I don't know why you and others have started with the blaming the L drivers for not merging correctly.
It is the selfish attitude and lack of driving skills of Perth drivers in all regards that is the problem.
One of the effects of this is that the majority don't have the ability to merge.
It is not L drivers only, it's the majority of drivers in Perth.

What I don't get is merge point, no matter how many lanes the road is, they all come to a standstill.
If drivers could merge properly, curtiously and drop a few kay's of the speed they are currently to let someone infront BEFORE the merge point, no one would bother going front the right lane to beat the traffic and then try push in the left lane to make their turn (take leach hwy over centenary ave, towards tonkin)

Sad I know, but that's the mentality of most drivers on the road...

About fucking time. Am I the only one that kinds it funny that Learners aren't allowed in Kings Park either? But are allowed in the CBD where there are 100x the people and 100x the number of jay walkers who could suddenly walk out in front of a learner in the same way a small (and no doubt unsupervised) child of a pram owning mother could?

I can understand why they did it, but to be honest I can't see Learners in Kings Park being such a huge problem beforehand that they deemed it necessary to add it as a condition

Lots of very wealthy, and people in positions of power live in or around Kings Park. Parliament house is there also.
The elite don't want to be disturbed with L plater riffraff.

Parliament house is NOT in KP. It's near KP. A learner can drive bog laps out the front of parliament house with no worries. And no one lives IN KP either. Crawley, Subi, West Perth - Yes. KP, not a chance.
