I get so annoyed with peole saying the road toll is going down in relation to registered vehicles. Have they tried to measure it against registerd drivers??? The fact of the matter is people are earning more money and often own more than one vehilce (resources boom people) I own a bike and a car so that's two vehicles for one person. I know several people on here that own a car a van and a bike or various other combinations.
I know several guys that since the boom started have bought a car and a 4x4 and a bike. This wasn't the case 4 or 5 years ago.
So let's see the stats for number of deaths compared to number of drivers.

Find the stats, post them up and I will stop using my vague memories of the only stats I've seen that seem to apply

Fair point... surely it is the number of licensed drivers that is important, not the number registered vehicles.. which is why stats lie... when the govt wants to look good they say the road toll is decreasing due to the fantastic measures they have introduced.. when they want to pineapple a small minoroty group then the stats say something else...

Anyway... back on topic... a serious question...

Is popping a wheelie a breach of the hoon laws the same as doing a burnout or spinning wheels when accelrating in a car?

I don't want to lose my daily ride for a week with no other easy way to get to and from work because of some anal law...?????

AFAIK they can pin you with "exhibition of acceleration" but i dont think its one of the rules they can confiscate the bike for.

I could be wrong.

From two cops now - they can't confiscate for a clean, controlled wheel stand, they can for stoppies (breaking traction with a driving wheel). But let's face it - on the side of the road, cop's pissed and smells the blood in the water, he can do what he wants. You can argue when it gets to court, but by then it's done and you have your bike back anyway.

Wheelies, apparently, are seen as a section 60 (ie reckless) offence. But there's plenty of cases where time and place have come together with a half reasonable magistrate and the charge has either been dismissed or dropped to careless.

Apparently the tyre-warming weave up the street can also be tagged for careless... fucking insanity.

"You slept with that 15 year old."

"She had the body of a 17 year old and gave consent."

"Oh. If there's grass on the wicket, it's time to play cricket, and all that. Carry on."

Somehow, I don't think most of society could stomach the discussions involved in establishing the circumstances for all laws to be circumstantial. Should we have circumstantial tax evasion laws too?

Actually, age of consent SHOULD be circumstantial. I wont get started on this subject again too much, but I know someone on here has a mate that copped it because she told him she was older than she was. Sometimes you cant tell, what are you meant to do, ask for ID?

From my understanding if your not driving in a striaght line (excluding turning) with all wheels on the ground you are hoooning

Your understanding is very over-the-top-what-the-cops-would-like. It's not quite that clear cut.

Well, if wheelies and stoppies are illegal, and if warming up the rubber on your tyres is illegal, then Pono's pretty much spot on. Next thing you know, you'll be done for changing wheel tracks without changing lanes or indicating because the cop doesn't know the bike laws.

Difference between illegal and breaking the hoon laws. It's not all about hooning - there's plenty of other laws to break, share the love around a bit.

The hoon laws themselves are purely restricted to burning rubber then, aren't they?

If someone revs their engine in neutral, isn't that nothing more than a "disturbing the peace" charge (or equivalent, whatever it's called)?
