(Please don't assume I'm blaming the councils or the road conditions for the accident, it's just a warning for people that aren't aware of the change in local conditions and are considering a hills ride in the near future.).
Yeah I ride from the prison down Gt Eastern, Govt Rd (which becomes Werribee), then along Needham, Mayo, Breeze and Lilydale Rd's to Toodyay Rd and there has been as you said crap all over the roads since at least Oz day and fuck all has been done I even emailed the MRD, Shire of Mundaring and City of Swan as the roads go through both, got a couple of emails stating it will be looked into (I've heard that before ) and got a message on my mobile from some guy saying he couldn't see any gravel
felt like replying that he needed new glasses if he couldn't see any gravel on the bends

Mayo Rd just near Toodyay (650m away), has a bend on it that has a PERMANENT gravel wash on it, I have never ridden it without the gravel being there, I have also witnessed 2 riders come to grief at the same spot, one of them a very experienced rider, the other a competent rider, luckily neither badly injured

I have reported this but nothing gets done, it's an easy fix, the wash over comes from a driveway, so put a kerb up or divert the wash into the drain on either side or better still shift the driveway

Yes, I know the one - and have seen two riders crash there too.

I believe MRD call gravel from a driveway a 'fishtail' and I too have complained about that particular fishtail with no result. Maybe they'll do something if more of us complain.

    RIP rider.

Was in that area on the day earlier on before this motorcyclist passed, can echo the sentiments of gravel on roads etc. RIP Mate

That was from the first report I saw of it - which was about 40 minutes before the news sites picked it up.

News that's fast is not always accurate, sadly.

Tractor went past today with road sweeper around the roads near this latest tragedy. Message to Northam Shire..... you are about 3 weeks too late.

If anyone is contemplating a hills ride in the Wooroloo, Wundowie area on the roads that go between Gt Eastern and Toodyay please be aware that there is a washout on Burma Road from a dam that overflowed during the down pour of 3 weeks ago. It is in a dip in the road and not readily visible until you are upon it. Mundaring shire have put up warning signs, but only about 20 metres from each side of the washout.... on a 110 km/hr road, so it can get you if you are not aware of it. The washout is getting evermore hazardous for us on two wheels from the 4 wheel traffic rearranging its topography.

Yeah I get onto Mayo via Lilydale-Breeze Rd's so don't have to deal with that but there is a downhill left hand sweeping section on Needham just before heading into the Wooroloo township area that always has wash from driveways You sort of get used to that and expect it but most of this shit is where they have filled in the sides of the road from weather damage and it's gotten washed back on the road, dragged by cars cutting the corner or in some cases just wasn't cleaned up properly by the contactors I was coming home the other day up around the curve on Needham and the back stepped out a bit while leaned over and I was sure I'd moved well away from any gravel
