rider down cnr marmion and hester - NOR

Passed a rider receiving treatment in the middle of the road on marmion corner hester ave.
Blue sports bike. At first I thought it was a CBR but on the way back they were loading it onto tow truck i got a better look - not a brand or decal i recognised - pallini????

looked clean and shiny on the right side, couldn't see any damage, so hopefully rider will be okay - but i really have no information on that.

there was another bike at the scene when i drove into town.
    many helpers stopped.
ambos and police present treating the rider.
    hope all is well.

it makes you appreciate the ride and the fragility of us every time we go out - glad we can ride, glad there are ambos and police to help when it doesn't go as planned.

    speedy recovery rider.

This is my neibourhood. Go through that roundabout twice a day. The negative camber on it is one of the worst I've seen, especiallyin the wet. Might have been the culprit. Hope the rider and ride is okay.

Hey guys, I don't quite know how to start this so here goes

    Incident location - -31.670129,115.740427

I was riding with the rider that was hit today, staggered behind him in the left wheel track of the left lane coming up to Hector northbound. A white Astra was crawling to a stop southbound in the centre of the road's right filter lane, at which point we both braked a little, but then the Astra stopped.

Then it took off again, when the front rider in the right wheel track was about 15 metres from the intersection, he immediately emergency braked but the car was too close, the rear tyre locked, then the front. the bike went down on its left side and slid behind the car, but the riders helmet caught the rear left fender which spun him around and left him facing southbound face down in the left wheel track.

I emergency braked to a stop beyond the rider and his bike and of course ran to him to help. The police arrived very quickly, probably 2-3 minutes as they were on the same road northbound already. Ambulance was there in about 10. He's currently recovering with what seems to be minor scapes thanks to tough gear but a few broken bones.

He's going to be very sore for a long time, so please consider him in your thoughts.

EDIT: btw the bike is a Kawasaki Balius

I'm confused.... frenchie is talking about an intersection, wolfette mentioned the corner of Marmion and Hester, but Marmion and Hester is a roundabout... Something doesn't make sense here...

Hahahahhaha. Only 2-3ks off track. The southbound astra and the filter had me fucked, and I thought "that's a honey doodle of a mellon scratcher". Then I gave up and got another beer. Thanks for the update and am glad the rider is okay.

Yo... Just thought I'd mention thats me - I was the rider down. Lying in a bed in rph bored as fuck right now.

Broken left collar bone and 6 broken vertebrae... Thank my lucky stars that my spinal cord stayed intact so I still have use of my legs!

Had spinal surgery and I'm in a brace now for 3 months... Out of work for 6 months. Learning to walk at the moment... Shoulders hurt like fuck whenever I get out of bed though.

Cheers for the well wishes guys.

I hope you make a speedy recovery. There has got to be some nice nurses looking after you anyway.
Because on the orthopedic ward there is mostly guys, and although it's heavy work sometimes, chicks like to work there. Hmm wonder why lol

so glad to hear you're okay - if somewhat bored. bored is good - it means you're still alive and well enuf to be bored!

being so close to where i live, and being the first ever rider down incident i'd seen, it hit home and shook me up more than i had expected. thanks for letting us know you're okay and i hope you get loads of nice visits while you're in there.

    cheers for the festive season!
