Was out there today… Ambo with lights flashing, Fire-trucks …and the cops turned everyone around and said we had to go back the way we came. Saw a bike all burnt up sitting next to the Fire truck. Don’t know what happened, but it was on the corner where the ice cream van is overlooking the dam.
Hope he/she is ok.

Thoughts are with the rider, it's a prick of a corner there, especially if you are unfamiliar with the road. Couple that with cars trying to get in and out of the carpark it's a wonder there aren't more accidents at that spot.

Aww shitgotta go soooo slow around that corner any time on the weekend, cagers are alwaus ready to dive out of that carpark when ever they can.
Hope the rider pulls through
Any more news?
Thats a shame, heal fast rider!
(226): Forecast for tonight is alcohol, low standards and poor decisions.
It's true on my first ride up that way this exact spot exactly what was said by the poster above you happened to me. Luckily for me I wasn't going too fast and was able to straighten the bike and stop in time. Yes the car did pull out of the little car park and yes I am much more cautious around that section nowadays.
Cheers...
I own a property off that road and I am on it at least half a dozen times a week. It is not a difficult corner from a technical point of view, but what vtwingrin said is not bollocks, you need to ride carefully through there.
Maybe you're a warrior stealth, but anything faster than with caution is foolish.
edit: heal quick rider, hoping it's not too bad for you.

Found out a bit more info on what happened after talking to a Cop friend today.
Allegedly...
Rider was going a little too fast, missed the corner and hit a tree.
Unfortunately he didn’t make it….
Condolences to the family

Sorry to be so late in replying, but I've been on my holidays. No, you can rest assured I shan't be the next one to wipe out on MWR, as I ride to road conditions, not the speedo. I'm one of those people that look at the road conditions, then adjust my speed accordingly. That means in most cases I ride at somewhat in excess of the posted road limitation, but sometimes at less than it. That bend I have ridden many times in also something like 20 years. It is not the slightest bit dangerous; there is ample warning that there is the potential for traffic conflict and that speed should be appropriate to the conditions. Spouting generalisations such as yours are more likely to result in 50 km/h limits instead of the current 60 and 70 ones.
So sorry mate, your statement was actually bollocks and you have only added to the stupidity of that statement by your reply. If you have had more than one close shave on that corner you are obviously a slow learner. Go drive a truck mate.
from memory it is actually signposted at 35kph.
Oh dear, do I have to include pictures with postings these days? I said it was bollocks because it is not a dangerous corner. True it has issues, such as tourists, adverse camber and potentially gravel. It has a sixty limit and its obvious from a fair distance that, yes there is a bend. But that does not make it dangerous! Ride to the bloody conditions, look ahead and plan your riding. It currently has a 60 limit, but if people are stupid then we'll end up with a bloody 40 limit all the way from Ashendon Road to the roundabout by the Calm office.
The same comments are being made about O'Brien. That is also not a dangerous road, apart from the brain dead tools that think they can navigate the road at Wanneroo Raceway speeds over blind brows (yes that was you, the dickhead on the Triumph triple I refer to).
If people are going to write themselves off through stupidity or inability, then all chime in with "its a dangerous road" we won't have any interesting roads left to ride on.
The advisory speed limit? Without trainer wheels, in most cases bends can be navigated safely at 2 or 3 times those advisory speeds. However, that assumes that you assess the conditions and adopt an appropriate speed. On a Saturday or Sunday I would probably anticipate passing that corner at closer to 35 or 40, while of course at all times being prepared for a lolly licking Hyundai Excel driver to pull out of the car park unannounced.
