Severe thunderstorm warning 6/12/11

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING
for Damaging Winds, Large Hail and Heavy Rainfall
For people in parts of WA in an area bounded by Jurien Bay, Mount Magnet,
Leinster, Hyden and Bunbury. This includes people in, near or between Perth,
Mandurah, York, Dalwallinu, Narrogin and Bunbury.
Issued at 9:55 am on Tuesday 6 December 2011

A surface trough near the west coast in combination with a mid-level disturbance
approaching from the west will produce an area of severe thunderstorms. People
are advised that there is the risk of SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS from midday Tuesday.

Storms may be accompanied by VERY HEAVY RAINFALL conducive to FLASH FLOODING,
LARGE HAIL and DAMAGING WINDS that could cause DAMAGE TO HOMES AND PROPERTY.

At 9.50am satellite and radar imagery showed showers and thunderstorms over the
warning area.

The overall weather pattern is not unusual for this time of year, but these
thunderstorms may
produce severe weather in localised areas.

Looks like it's going to be a big one.
I hope you all have waterproof gear and it might be a good idea to clean up any loose items around the house.

Got caught out in the big hail storm last year, was'nt fun.
In the cage today

I had the pleasure of being caught in the big one last year.

I ended up with welts through my full leathers and a sore neck from when they hit my helmet ... and I still have the dents on my tank.

Most of that was whilst trying to cowering behind a plumbers van, then a Transperth bus because it wasnt giving enough shelter.

As Schmoo said... like trying to ride on golfballs..... oh.... thats because they were the size of golf balls.
The wheels spun and back stepped out with no throttle and gently letting the clutch out.

Not an experience I'd recommend. One of the few times I felt I had the imminent possibility of death.

that was funny last year when they filmed that dude on the freeway getting donked by "big hail" still makes me chuckle when i think of it

I remember leaning out off the third floor apartment balcony with a big pot in my hand trying to catch the hail. Golf-ball sized lump smacked me in the wrist and made drop the pot into the courtyard below. People on the ground floor couldn't understand why a uni student from the third floor was asking if he could have his pot back from their yard...
