WARNING: Bike parking at coventries square markets

Don't take your bike to coventry markets, the asphalt is still too fresh to take the weight of a bike. This morning my side stand punctured the asphalt and sunk to the bed rock causing my bike to fall over and do a fair bit of damage including snapping my sidestand in half. Took pictures with the site management so all should be good insurance wise but just to stop it happening to other people. Park your bike in the carpark at your own risk.

In most places on a hot day the asphalt in the car park will sink under a side stand. A small block of wood under the side stand works a treat in this case.

Sorry to hear about the drop, i hope centre management help you out. If they have a sign that says parking at your own risk their insurer may not want to pay out

Bugger! I think I remember last time your bike went over in a car park.
Thanks for the timely reminder about the asphalt, it's easy to forget from year to year.
Good luck with the farting about to get your bike fixed.

If you don't carry a bit of wood a crushed soft drink can works OK

i carry a grinding disc for a 5 inch grinder in my back pack as the stand fits it good and its only about 10 mm thick so the bike is still on a good enough angle to not get blown over by wind

Pretty much what others have said. Crushed coke can, a block of wood, or some bike shops/ebay sell these plastic or metal discs that you put under your side stand if you don't want to look cheap.

Yeah Andy was showing me all the marks at his and Stoney's house at the xmas party where bike stands sink through the ashphalt. He was onto it tho, had little wood squares made for everyone when we got there. Even some of the squares made dents in the surface 4 - 5 mm deep.

Anything to spread the weight works well, last year there was some fresh asphalt done and some bikes tipped over.. lucky there wasn't a domino effect
