This is the Open Air Wilson Parking Crapark opposite the Convention Centre near Mercintile Lane.

A friend of mine from work just went to park her scooter there and there are 3 guys fining the bikes!! he told her that no bikes/scooters will be able to park there from now on as a bike fell on a car the other day and a complaint was lodged.

The were out fining some of the bikes yesterday and have fined ALL the bikes today!

They said they will be out there everyday for the this week and next week fining everyone.

So what about all the cager fender-benders that happen their everyday? Are they going to ban cars from parking there too? They should! Then there wouldnt be anymore complaints

    That shits me...

A bike falls on a car (who knows what caused that) and maybe puts a scuff in the clearcoat => Result: Fine all the bikes.
A car reverses over a bike and totally fucks it => Result: Car probably just drives off without leaving a note.

The world is a more fucked place for motorcyclists every day.

Only problem is the bikes are parking without paying and the cars are paying.

One of the guys handing out the fines was really pissed off to be doing it as he rides bikes too. Thought the whole thing sucked big time!

The Convention Centre Carpark now is overflowing with bikes and there are more bikes than bike bays in there.

It is hard enough to find bike parking in the CBD - now the wankers have taken one of the large bike parking areas away from us.

It is a cruel harsh world!

I used to park (I think in the same carpark) underneath the stairwell of the bridge in that carpark. For years I paid $5 per day to Wilson... then I found out after all those years, Wilson didnt own the land under the stairwell...

I.. don't even know what to say. I can't even justify how much we're being isolated, and prodded with a stick in words.

    Stick on fake numberplates anyone?

If you and your mate rode in to work together on your two different bikes, parked next to each other, and swapped your number plates over, would their paperwork have to match the make of the bike, they take photos don't they?

Owner onus kind of falls on it's arse if my plate was caught on the rear facing camera while attached to the back of a GSXR. I'm not the legally registered owner of the vehicle, I can't undentify the rider, everybody wins.

Bwahahahhahahahaa, oh thats cruel, but pretty funny.

Teenie is absolutely right - cars pay for parking there and bike dont so cars have priority. It sucks big time but perhaps it isnt all that surprising.

If i was the owner/operator of a big secure car parking facility in the city i would immediately provide a nice, secure section for bikes. Maybe a couple of hundred spots. Offer them cheap say $5 per day. I reckon you'd have no trouble filling them.

I think you'll find that you might not be able to do that They are allowed so many spaces for vehicles per carpark, the rub is we are classed as vehicles so if they add 100 bike bays they loose 100 car bays, something like that (I may be wrong).

So they're better off with more car bays than bike bays, money wise

hmmmm, i'm sure your right there. So all we need is a car park operator who is bike friendly who is happy to set aside a few "car" bays at teh front of the lot for bikes and they just let multiple bikes park in those bays. They could charge all teh bikes, we'd still use them!

thats really stupid, cars take up more space and generate more pollution using 2 wheels in and out of Perth should be encouraged not persecuted.

Yeah, when I took my bike down there, I was told by the attendant (back when there was an attendant) to park under the stairs and pay $5

So Wilson were making money off council land? I'm sure the council would be interested in that...

Or for Perth City Council to adopt the same approach as the more cosmopolitan towns around (ie Mull-borne) and allow bikes to park on the footpath so long as they're not in the way of pedestrians or shopfronts.

    Yeah

    sif... <_<

We live in a commodore society. Hate to say it, but you matter a whole lot more if you drive a Falcon or a Commodore. They are the NASCAR dad's of the Australian voting majority. Super Middle Class, ain't no place for motorbikes except in the ownership of their daughter's romantic interests, which makes it all fine for me. I've had plenty of hot girls riding shotgun in a FalcoDore stare out the window at me while their boyfriend gets green with envy.... such is karma.
