    2006 Yamaha R6 Cosmetic Mods

    Hey boys and girls!

Just picked up my 2006 R6 on Friday and i absolutely love it! Cant get me off the thing!

Looking to do some cosmetic mods to make it look the parts now.
It already has the fender elminator and upgraded front discs.

If you could get me some ideas and some pics of what looks good that would be great.
Thinking of doing the whole black and carbon fibre look

BTW - Its black with red stripes

And also, how do you get tyre shine of the wheels?? the guy i bought it off sprayed it on
or would it be better off just getting new tyres?

    Cheers

So you want us to provide you with a picture of every possible mod to a 2006/2007 R6? Isn't that what google is for?

Visit a decent online store (Superbike Toystore, Motomummy, McCoy Motorsports/tobefast, Sportsbiketrackgear, etc etc), and you can search parts by specific bike models. I hear they may even have pictures of what the parts look like installed....

Alternatively, search the build threads here on PSB which may show you some of the things that can be done to an R6 as well.

Then you can decide what you like, and build it to your preferences, rather than bowing to peer pressure and just doing the standard mods.

Be creative, and enjoy the process.

as much as you are temped to make it more prettier... I probably suggest keeping it as is... it looks sexy enough as it is already

    Tyre shine= that sounds slippery
Tred carefully, treat the tyres as new and run them in again.

BLACKFZR - Thanks for you input. Its just that im new to the bike scene and dont really know where and what to buy for my bike. I have had a look on google and ebay and tried to find what i like.
    So far im looking at
Aftermarket Levers - either matt black or gloss black that are shorter
New Plastics - Carbon fiber ones that cover the front wheel, rear wheel and engine accs
    Flush Mounted Side Indicators
Slip On Exhaust - the IXIL Dual Shorty Tip but in matt black

Just wondering if people had pictures of these as i dont really want to go and spend the money and then put it on and it looks like shit would just like some feedback from people and what works and what doesnt that all

i can understand where your coming from, every new person asks how does this look, and what do you think of this. It can get tiring sometimes but i thought we were here to help each out? Didnt mean to offend or upset you.

okitoki - thanks but just wanna do some things to make it look a bit different from the others one out there

shan - yeah thats what im worried about. Will try and clean them off when i get the chance, if it doesnt come off, i will be getting some new tyres. Dont really wanna risk it!!

Hey Wogboy, cosmetically and some functional, here's some stuff I put on my old '03 R6:

hel braided lines, fender elliminator, flushmount front indicators, pazzo levers, puig double bubble dark screen, pickup spools, frame sliders, new exhaust and hanger (removing the pillion pegs, lots of other practical stuff under the hood like alarm, speedo healer, changed sprockets, mapped PCIII and filter, chain etc. So many things to do to them.

If you are new to bikes and riding, why not wait till whatever wears out/ falls off/breaks/smashes b4 replacing it?
Spend the $ on bits you really need, insurance, riding gear and track days etc.

MEKON - Thanks for that! Very nice looking bike. Definately like the clean and flush look. And the matt black really makes it different! Might be looking at doing a mixture of carbon fiber and matt black! Thanks

AUFITT - Already got the insurance sorted. Got my riding gear (helmet, gloves, full jacket, kelver jeans, boots - wasnt cheap but worth it!) and booking in 2 track day sessions, one with RAC and AHG. Hopefully that should help

W1LK0 - Thanks for that! I will be checking out that website today.

The R6-FORUM is good for all things related to your bike. I'm on there every few days and there is plenty of pics of peoples mods to help you decide on what you want to do for yourself.
As BlackFZR said, enjoy the process of adding bits that you like rather than what other people think. It's your bike after all.
