OK here's one for the paint matching / mixing types.
I have two 675 daytona track bikes and I love the scorched yellow. Problem is that the colour is a pain to even attempt to match according to the paint people I have had conversations with. OK I understand this as it is achieved by laying one colour over another (sort of).
Code IVC 1000792(L4819) = Colourite 1043 base + 30025 top.
Anyway the reason I want paint is so that I can do it myself (self satisfaction and availability for fairing touch ups).
All I really want is to mix a single tint that comes up somewhere close to the original colour. Doesn't have to be perfect nor have the depth of pearl, just close enough. I had a fellow mix up what he called strontium yellow a few years ago and that is what I painted my track fairing with. It's close enough for me. He no longer works in the paint business
I am now frustrated with the people I have dealt with recently because they don't seem to get "close enough" and "someone did it before successfully". Seems they keep thinking "has to be exact" so therefore multi-layer blah blah....
Anyway bottom line is I don't want to have to take the bikes back to a shop every time I want to repaint. Can any of you gentle peeps help this old DIY track tragic
