    748 firing problems

Bikes been sitting for almost 2 months starts up fine ran well yesterday but today on roe hwy I clicked her into 6th and she started dying on me. So I pulled over and she was idling normal. Took off again and and she screamed through all the gears came back to a cruising pace and when I went tO throttle on again she didn't want tO go until I dropped down a gear got the revs up. Same feeling you get on old bikes when you leave the choke on. Any ideas?

Have a look at your air filter. Sounds like its getting too much fuel/not enough air

Have you been running BP 98? It happens a lot.

Always run bp 98, never had a problem before. But then I've never let the bike sit that long before.

Always a problem in any bike I don't ride weekly, apparently it's not formulated/intended for vented fuel systems and the evaporation leaves you with a fuel with great detonation resistance but too low an energy value to pop in the average engine.

Glad it was an easy fix.

I refuse to buy any petrol from BP, on principal. They are always the first to put the price up whenever there is some event of global significance like Mahummad's dog died so they had 2 days of mourning for it ( or any other excuse will do for BP to rip us off ), and always the last to bring it back down.. My first preference is Caltex, then Shell. I've never had a problem with it sitting around for months at a time in vented systems ( old cars ) or any of my bikes, some of which are vented.
