    Adapter for bigger disk brake

    Hi.
    Looking for somebody who can make an adapter for the brake caliper so that it fits a 296mm instead of a 276mm disc in the front. It is a CBR 150 so there is nothing readily available to buy. We have done that before but the supplier is half a world away and would need to see the bike for measurements.
    Anyone got an adress or phonenumber for me?

    Make a cardboard template and take it to a fabricator. Thats what i plan to do to my cb250 when i go for an R6 front left caliper.

    Did you find a fitting disc already? What size do you have and what are you gonna go to?

    I'm going to stick to the original sized disc but buy an aftermarket cross drilled item. I was just going to make the bracket to suit the fitting and to maximize the pad contact area.

    I would go further than cardboard, I would make up a prototype adapter using MDF so you can do a trial fit up before committing. You not only need to have pad coverage on the disc, but you need to be sure of wheel clearance, Pumba only has a few mm clearance between the caliper and wheel with R6 calipers;

    Intelligence and education are three sides of the same coin.

    Have you thought of simply using softer pads to increase your braking?

    The brakes are not bad to begin with. I tried a couple of pads and the best and most expensive ones were french carbone lorraine in sbk5 compound. These guys also have a racing compound which I wouldnīt have been able to get up to temperature so I left that alone and they are no good for the street anyways. A Honda RS 125 on the circuit would be suitable, the CBR just isnīt.
    Thing is, with 2 fingers you flip her over the front regardless which pads are used. One could argue that is good enough. For ease of operation (and I canīt think of something else to occupy myself with ) I kinda hoped the bigger disk would bring me in the one finger range which would be pretty awesome.Brake lever with smaller piston diameter is probably not available and I donīt like the idea of having worse feedback either. Caliper with bigger or more pistons would be an option but then the lever would need to be changed too and I donīt have space on the handlebars for something bulkier and I need an adaptor anyways and itīs not sure that it works in the end.
    With 276mm discs there is not onehelluva lot to play with. At 296mm one can get all the good discs and matching pads... Funny enough the VFR 750 front disc is 296mm (only one then) and the mounting fits my wheel.

    Do you have sizes or drawing, I like the idea of making a wooden template.

    If you can do one of the above I could machine one up for a small fee. I don't know any mates with your bike so I have nothing to copy.

    Cheers

    Gotta get the bigger disk and a couple of days of downtime. Gonna keep your offer in mind.
