    AGV K3 Lid - Opinions?

    Hi Guys

I'm getting to the stage where I want to start buying gear and am looking for a decent but relatively cheap helmet (that looks pretty ace), and these are around $200
I did a search on it (google and on here) and only really came up with one review, which admittedly rather liked it.

I suppose what I'm asking is does anyone have any experience or views on the helmet?

    Ta muchly

This is my second helmet - so I can only compare it to my old R-jays striker (even cheaper).

It is more comfortable, a bit lighter, seems better constructed so far, but comes with more wind noise at speed, also the strap is a bit more fiddly.
Still happy with it overall, better than the old one.

This is a UK site for helmet comparisons - SHARP Helmets - THE HELMET SAFETY SCHEME

Not all of the helmets are available in Australia, and while you can buy from overseas your insurance won't like a helmet without an Australian Standards Sticker and neither will the Police (this has been covered many times in other threads, let's not derail this topic as well). It will simply give you some comparisons for looks and safety vs price.

I currently have an OGK, my last few helmets were AGV. They last really well, quality materials so you won't have issues with the inserts degrading in 2 years. The straps are fiddly, the visor mechanism is strong, vent was good, price was good for the quality of the helmet. Try one on, if it doesn't fell snug but comfortable then look at a different brand; I can't wear Shoei or Arai as they felt terrible to my head shape.
Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

The happiest people don't HAVE the best of everything, they MAKE the best of everything.

don't have any opinion about the helmet personally...

not sure which review you read/watched but here's two from sportbiketrackgear and revzilla.. i find both always give solid reviews about products..

Yeah saw that. Not sure what size my head is though!
And down the road, I will want something lighter but for the time being I want something cheap thats going to protect me if I come off.

Rudleo, havent seen those reviews yet, will watch later. Thanks

I've had one for a couple weeks now, bought it from Helmet House.
I like it a lot, it fits nice, though at first it killed my ears. But the foam has broken in and now it fits like a glove. Wind noise is down considerably from my MR2 TT-comp, a $100 helmet.
For me, aesthetically I absolutely love it, not just the graphics but because of the lines the helmet has, coupled with an iridium visor it's the bees knees as far as I'm concerned.

I have the K4, same helmet but much better material for only $100 more, Try Bikebiz or Peterstevens for amazing prices.

Only thing I fault is the seal around the top of the vizor causing a slight noise, I can fix that.

I'd buy from BikeBiz or someone like that but I dont know what size I am. I think I'll go to Prestige Honda and see what they have as PSB members get 15% off and work out which one works out best

I found AGV didn't fit me at all, the forehead was way too tight for the shape of my head = instant headache.

Not all helmets are the same shape, so if you haven't purchased the same brand before, I'd be trying it on locally, and then not being a c*nt by buying it there instead of online.
In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

yeah, figured I'd go and buy one locally and not be a cock. If Prestige do 15% off, then there isnt going to be much difference between buying one online and locally anyway. I wanted to find a helmet that I liked the look of though and start there, and if it doesnt fit then I can look at getting something similar that does.

good helmet, had to order the iridium visor cause it wasn't in stock, but that's hardly related to anything.
vents are ok, they give decent airflow. chin vent de-foggs really well, i don't have to crack the visor when its cold.
doesn't fit bluetooth attachments because the lower padding is glued in.
i have the sexy tribal black/white/silver one with silver visor

Just a heads up - some of the screws that hold the visor mechanism in on mine came loose, not much fun when riding to work having your visor only attached on one side.

Anyway I fixed it and put loctite on the new screws, hopefully that stops it happening again.
