my akra silencer was held in with a single bolt, hence fairly easy to remove.
... crack the welds

Hey Guys,

I only found out about the pipe having a silencer last night and like mentioned above, this is the only place on google I could find that mentioned it.

I brought my slip-on back in 2004, how do i remove it??

Thanks.

Regards,

Dave

Hey Batta, welcome to PSB. What does the silencer look like?
If you have access to a slide Hammer it could do wonders, that is basically how I had to remove my silencer. Get a hold of the silencer part and just pull it out, it was nice and tight
Gluck

You might wanna post up a pic of the end of the can if your still having trouble. My baffle was held in place by a single rivet. Just had to drill it out then presto, the baffle slides out

Forgive my ignorance but I have no idea what the silencer is or what it looks like, all the guy said is that it should have one and i am losing DB's because of it...hence it has to go, :-)

Here are some photos (sorry didnt have an online host, so quickly signed up to the first site i saw)

From your pics I don`t quite understand what you are trying to do. It looks like a slip-on already. What Kim and Marty are talking about is the silencer inside the slip-on Akro. Your slip on looks like it doesn`t have a silencer inside. It depends what kind of pipe you got.

Just what i had to do with mine:

Mine was bolted in yes, but it was still DAMN tight.

What did I do?

I ended up getting a coat-hanger, bending it into a loop with hooks on the ends, and using a hammer to tap it out.

Just be careful what you hook onto etc, but it came out easy that way - up till that point i'd spent an hour with pliers, and other screwing about...
