Alpinestars GP-R, anyone have one? What do you think of it?

Hey guys as the title suggests, anyone have/had one of these jackets and what did you think of it?

I am looking at buying a new jacket and I really like the look of them but want some opinions on the jacket before I fork out the money for it.

Thanks for your help in advance

Have not got one but will do when it starts to get warmer. Good review online by sportbiketrackgear.com and from memory they were selling them for $365 if you emailed them for their best price.

I've got one. Love it so far. Plenty of vent, so it's good when you're not stationary. I've also upgraded mine with the chest armour inserts and a snap in a-stars back protector.

It looks identical to the GP-Pro except it doesn't have the hump on the back. My GP-Pro is great.
Is such a thing even possible?

i have one and find it to be a good jacket. Im 188cms, 85kgs and had the same problem with long arms, settled for a 44us. I got mine from culleys yamaha for 460ish from memory. also upgraded with snap in back protector. i prefered to try it on as i am inbetween a 42 and 44.

Hardy, did they have a GP-R? (presuming all GP-R's are perforated???)
I tried on the 'Indy' VERY nice fit but would love to try on a GP-R.

Does anyone know where these are stocked in Perth?

I have a quote from SBK but they cant get any till 4th November so plenty of time to try sizing on when I get home before ordering.

They had them at total motorcycle accessories in vic park when I bought mine a couple of months ago, could be worth a shot.
I paid $390AUS including delivery from Riders Discount a couple of months ago. Exchange rate has tanked comparatively since then though. Great customer service and fast shipping too.

I'm 176cm and weigh 95kgs (could do with losing some weight) and I've got a size 54. So you may want to go try a 52 or possibly even a 50 if they have them. If not, try on what you can and then use the sizing guide to fill the gaps.

Remember you'll want to leave a little room if you're gonna get a back protector or the optional chest armour inserts.

Dowen, do u mean they stock the GP-R at Total MC Accessories in Vic Park??
The guy I talked to also said "if you were leather in Summer your nuts" well we'll see about that. - GP-R looks like a better leather jacket for summer / warmer riding?

Your nuts because you want good protection? So we should wear leather in winter then when its raining, Or a good textile winter jacket? Maybe I'm just cranky coz I'm tired. If someone finds them post up, I'm gonna be making some calls when I get back to perth, I was in cullys and they didn't have them, only the indy and the non perforated version of the gpr.

Yes, Total MC Accessories in Vic Park. When I was there a couple months ago looking for mine they had them.

Vented leather is warm when you're sitting in traffic at lights, but seems bearable once you're moving and have some air flow through the jacket.

For anyone viewing this thread and thinking of getting a GP-R... They're mint.
I'm about 175cm, 75kg and 39" chest. I got a 50 and it fits perfect. Wouldn't want to go smaller.
Jackets perfect when moving and warm when still as people said. Would definitely recommend it. Bought it from SBK Toy Store.

Can't comment on the GP-R, but got the GP Pro, and track pants from RIDERS DISCOUNT: Motorcycle Accessories, Motorcycle Helmets & Gear
Pretty good, and fits pretty well for me (short arse 5'6"), plus they do US$25 shipping to Oz, no matter what size the order
