Carb Guages

I'm thinking that I need to be able to balance carbs on both bikes - XJ600 and CBR1000. I have no idea what guages are suitable - can anyone point me in the right direction?

You can make your own with clear pvc tube, micro-irrigation fittings and a length of board.

Basically, you need a board with four or two hoses (depends on # carbs) running vertically into a "manifold" made of T-pieces and elbows at the bottom. About a metre high. Tops of the hoses go to the carbs via straight connectors (which put constrictions in the tube). Fill it to about 700mm high with oil.

Connect to the vacuum ports and off you go - get them level!

I thought a manometer was a measure of how many chicks you'd nailed?

The other alternative is a couple of vacum gauges or those stupid power economy gauges they used to fit to Comodores and Falcons in the 80's.
