yah been discussed a few time - general concensus is they are good value for money, might need some holes redrilled etc or need to add some heat shielding but for the money they are good.

Okay so they need heat shields...
What are stock fairing panels made of out of interest?

Same as the chinee specials, it's all ABS.
What you'll find is that the moulding process doesn't quite place the holes/reliefs etc correctly so you'll have to do a bit of filing to make it fit.
And where your bike's stock fairings have some heat shielding around the bellypan if it runs close to the headers, these aftermarket ones don't.

There are some pretty cool looking ones out there, what do people do with the tanks though?
Leave them stock, buy spare tanks and get them painted to match, or use some kind of cover for them?

I'm tossing around the idea of buying a tank off a wrecked 954 and getting it repainted.

I've got a chinese Lucky Strike set waiting to go on my RGV... I'm expecting to be redrilling holes etc..to fit it and to fit some heat shielding in a couple of places. I got a spare tank off barfy and will get the best of them painted by potato when I get my tax return done.

Tank's a pain.
Respraying a second tank is the easiest.
I looked at the possibility of moulding some 0.7mm PET sheet over my tank with a light tack adhesive, then painting that.
Or just go over the existing tank.

years ago it was found these Chinese fairing sets are made using discarded factory moulds, or discontinued models. (which explains how they have those hard to find older model fairings).
Fitting can have a few issues, but you get what you pay for..
for less than $700 (incl freight) they are good value..

At the end or the day you get what you pay for.
Mine were about 500 landed and were a pain in the ass to fit and required a few hours of dremel work.
They are also starting to blister in a few spots where raditaor hose runs right next to the fairings.
They look good untill you get up close where you can see the poor fit.
If I had my time again, I would still get them.

Mine fit pretty well and came with heat shielding (which the originals didn't have).

What bike have you got them on? I presume your avatar pic shows the bike you have fitted the chinese fairings to? How does the fit and finish compare to the stock panels? Can you post any larger pics?

Hey all,
I got some of these fairings for my Gixxa...
I would like to add some extra heat shielding around the headers and stuff just to be sure.
Can anyone recommend any particular tapes/materials to use.
Cheers,
Calculon
