Crack in the sump of my bike

just bought a ninja 250 on monday and when i was giving it a service today everything was done up extremely tight on the sump, and when I tried to take the cap off to put some oil back in it was so tight i had to get pliers, and when i finally got it off i saw a crack down all the thread on the sump where the cap screws in . I'll upload a picture soon just waiting for my camera battery to charge. but can anyone tell me how much it will cost approximatly to get it fixed? Please urgently

Depending on the sump plug size, cheap fix is to put a threaded bush in with loctite and use a smaller plug.

This would entail draining the oil and removing all traces of oil from the crack.

Not a difficult job to do yourself.

It's not the sump plug its the fill hole thats got the crack.
So far my plan is to go to the wreckers and see if they have any of the plates spare and get one of those and do it myself

god dammit cant get any pictures up.

Yeah that was my plan, but im not to sure about the clutch cable is it a hard thing to do?
as a former car mechanic all i had to do was be a robot and just service, service, service, so when it comes to actually fixing things is when i'm not too experienced but im sure i can replace the cover easily the only thing is the clutch cable seems a bit out of my league even though im sure it is easy, ill probably just watch a video on youtube how to do it or something, thanks for the help everyone!

New gasket, maybe new fill plug, swap clutch cables over and it'll be sorted.

Its a bummer your new bike has a crack but it looks worse than it is so I wouldn't be in any panic to replace it. The oil isn't going to leak out. Save up and buy a new clutch cover.

Thanks, i've already looked into the type of clutch cover, and i noticed where the clutch cable connects to the cover is in a different spot, i'll upload a photo of the clutch cover thats on my bike at the moment from a better angle.

I was only a mechanic for like a year so i really didnt get into anything and it was at a dealership so as you obviously would know all you do there as a first year is clean and service if youre lucky...
